  • This Ride is limited to 75 riders per day, with a minimum of 50 riders required.

    Once the limit is reached we will start a waiting list. Ride may be cancelled if the minimum is not reached.
  • DATES: Saturday September 13th, and Sunday September 14th 2025

    SANCTIONING:  Both rides are sanctioned by AERC. 

    VETS:  HEAD VET IS Susan McCartney, DVM

    START TIMES: 7 AM for the 50, 8 AM for the 30, and 9 AM for the intro.

    AWARDS: Completion awards will be given to all riders in all distances who complete the ride. A first place and best condition award will be given, as well as top ten prizes for the 50 and 30. No placings given for Intro riders.

    REGISTRATION: Completed registration form and a $20 non-refundable deposit are required to hold your spot. 

    A $20 non-refundable deposit is required with registration, the remaining balance to be paid before September 5th, or the full amount can be paid at time of registration. (Campsites must be booked separately.) Entry fees are due in full by midnight on Friday, September 5th. (See refund policy below.) A late fee of $40 will apply if entry fees are not paid in full by the deadline, and you will be waitlisted.

    Entry fees are per rider per day as follows:

    • 50 mile ride: $150 total
    • 30 mile ride: $150 total
    • Intro ride: $110 total
    • Non-Member AERC fee $20 (applies to all riders who aren’t AERC members except intro riders.)
    • Two Day Discount: Because the non-refundable deposit is only charged once per rider, if you ride for both days your second day will be $20 less than your first day! (50 & 30 $130, Intro $90)

    Ride fees include the $14 CA drug fee and the non-refundable deposit, but do not include campsite fees or meals. Campsites must be booked separately. 

    MEALS: Dinners are available in camp on the evenings of Friday 9/12, Saturday 9/13, and Sunday 9/14 for $10-$15 per plate. A link to order and pay for your meals will be emailed to all registrants in late August.

  • We do have a few rules to keep everyone safe.

    • ALL AERC RULES APPLY. 
    • We are next to a highway please watch your animals and cross with caution.
    • This is a family friendly and inclusive event open to all. All are welcome. Unkind, disrespectful, rude or mean behavior directed to any person involved in the ride will not be tolerated and will result in immediate disqualification and denial of entry to future events.
    • Dogs on leash at all times. Please don't bring extra animals unless there will be someone in camp to attend to them.  
    • Quiet hours are 10:00 PM - 5:30 AM please no generators during those hours. 
    • Bridles are required (bitless bridles ok). Breast collars are strongly advised due to the hill-climbing portions of the ride.
    • Full hoof protection is strongly advised. If barefoot, must at least carry boots.

    These rules may be changed and added to before the race. 

    At any point you are breaking any of these rules or regulations you may be asked to leave the property immediately without refund.

    As a participant in the The Lost Sierra, I  *   agree to abide by the rules of AERC and the aforementioned ride. I understand that riding horses is a potentially hazardous activity, which could cause injury or death. I will not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained, and by my signature, I certify that I am medically able to perform this event, and am in good health, and I am properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to any aspect of my participation in this event, including the right of any official to deny or suspend my participation for any reason whatsoever. I attest that I have read the rules of the riding event and agree to abide by them. I assume all risks associated with riding in this event, including but no limited to: falls, physical contact with other participants, volunteers, event personnel, contract service providers, employees, and spectators including the potential the contraction of a communicable disease resulting from contact with other participants, volunteers, race personnel, contract service providers, employees, and spectators. I assume all risks including: the effects of the weather; high heat and/or humidity; freezing cold temperatures; traffic and the conditions of the road including surrounding terrain. I understand that endurance riding also involves being in remote areas for extended periods of time, far from communication, transportation, and medical facilities; that these areas have many natural and man-made hazard which ride management cannot anticipate, identify, modify, or eliminate; that there exist wildlife to include cows, deer, bobcat, coyote, mountain lions; that horses can be excitable, difficult to control, and unpredictable that being said that accidents can happen to anyone at any time. I *agree to take full responsibility for myself and the animal I am riding. I will not hold the AERC, ride management, all ride personnel, the Plumas National Forest Service, Tahoe National Forest Service, Graeagle Land & Water, Lüch Equine LLC property, family and all employees, and all property owners whose land the ride passes through will not be blamed for any accident, injury or loss that might occur due to my participation in the ride and they are free from all responsibility and liability for such injury or loss. I accept and agree that this waiver covers the camping arrangements for this event as well.

    I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any marketing purposes. 

    I         have read and agree to be bound by the refund policy as follows: The $20 deposit is non-refundable. The remainder of the balance for the ride fees is due by September 5th, 2025. Ride fee refunds are only available before the September 5th, 2025 deadline. No refunds after September 5th unless horse does not pass the pre-ride vet check. Refunds will be issued within 30 days of request, less the non-refundable $20 deposit which covers administration fees. If the event is cancelled due to an emergency during the 7 days leading up to the event, a refund of 50% of the ride fees will be issued. No refunds are available if the event is cancelled due to an emergency once the event begins.
