    Please note that the location for Jabiru 2026 has changed as Camp Yarramundi will be closed for renovations starting in January 2026. Jabiru 2026 will be held at the Great Aussie Bush Camp in Kincumber on the central coast. The address is: 38 Empire Bay Dr, Kincumber South NSW 2251. 

    Submitting an application does not guarantee your child a placement. Completing the first page of this application (i.e., hitting "Hold My Spot!" below) reserves your child's place in the application queue, which will determine the order in which applications are considered. This will allow you time to complete the rest of the application in a considered way, knowing that your spot is held.

    You must hit "SUBMIT" at the end of the application for your child to be considered for Jabiru. The entire application must be complete and submitted or you will lose the place you reserved by completing this first page.

    You will not hear a response from our team about the status of your application until after the 15th of November.

  • Jabiru Application 2026

  • For more details about what will make your child ready for Jabiru, please refer to our website under the heading "Groups and Appropriate Participants".

    Please select the group you want to apply to for your child based on the following information:

    • Participants aged 4-5 years: Appropriate children will be able to participate in group experiences, have adequate stamina to participate in a 4-hour day at Jabiru without need for a nap, and will have at least some awareness of toileting needs and preferably at least be in a pull-up if not toilet trained. By the time of Jabiru, these participants WILL NOT have entered kindergarten.
    • Participants aged 5-6 years: Appropriate children will be able to participate in group experiences, have adequate stamina to participate in a 6-hour day at Jabiru, will be toilet trained and will have at least emergent ability to interact and communicate with peers. By the time of Jabiru, these participants WILL have completed one term of kindergarten.
    • Participants aged 6-8 years: Appropriate children will be able to participate in group experiences, have adequate stamina to participate in a 7.5-hour day at Jabiru and will have some independence in their ability to interact and communicate with peers.They must also be toilet trained.
    • Transition participants aged 8 years: Children will stay 1 night overnight (Wednesday night) in order to prepare them for being an overnight participant the following year. If your child is not ready to sleep away for one night, do not apply for this group. Please note: not all 8 year olds will be placed in this group, but you may indicate it as a preference on your application form. Appropriate children will be able to: sleep away for one night, participate in group experiences, have adequate stamina to participate in a 7.5-hour day at Jabiru, and have some independence in their ability to interact and communicate with peers. They must also be toilet trained.
    • Overnight group for children aged 8-12 years: Appropriate children will be able to participate in group experiences, will have had some sleep-over experience away from home prior to Jabiru and will be able to independently interact and communicate with peers, with adult support as needed to ensure success and positivity. They must also be toilet trained. Children who are 9 or older WILL NOT be considered for a day group.

  • The Great Aussie Bush Camp can accommodate the dietary needs listed below, with an additional $25 fee for gluten-free diets. If you have other dietary needs you may select "other," but you will need to supply your own food.

    NOTE: The Great Aussie Bush Camp is nut free. You will not be able to bring any food products containing nuts, including non-dairy milks made from nut products. 

  • Swimming Ability

  • Please rate swimming ability based on the following:

    Unable - nothing more than a dog paddle

    Poor - basic strokes, only limited strokes beyond domestic swimming pool

    Good - strong swimmer, able to swim confidently in a variety of water conditions

    Excellent - very strong and confident, could swim 50 meters fully clothed

  • YMCA Medical Consent

    I understand that YMCA NSW and its instructors will take reasonable care for the welfare and safety of those attending the camp but are not responsible for any accident or sickness otherwise occurring. I acknowledge that going on camp may involve participation in activities of a hazardous nature, though YMCA NSW and its instructors will take reasonable care to minimise risk to participants.

    I have detailed herein any disabilities or susceptibilities affecting me/my child, that may place me/my child at greater than normal risk. I authorise YMCA NSW and its instructors to obtain medical assistance and ambulance transportation in the event of illness or injury as they think necessary and authorise qualified medical practitioners to administer anaesthetic, blood transfusions, or any other procedures deemed necessary. I also agree to pay all the cost of any expenses incurred as a result of such medical assistance and ambulance transportation. I acknowledge that I am able to obtain private insurance cover in respect of any accidents or sickness at the camp. Should I/my child need to be returned home for any reason I will cover any associated costs.

  • Jabiru Commitment Form

  • Participation in Jabiru necessitates a firm commitment. Jabiru is an intensive program that requires 12 months of planning, intensive staffing, and the purchase of numerous child and group-specific materials in advance. Once your child has been accepted into the Jabiru program, our financial commitment to your child at Jabiru has begun. Please refer to our website for additional details about these commitments. 

    As such, please acknowledge the following expectations: 

  • Due to the administrative and clinical work that is needed to prepare for Jabiru, there are cancellation fees associated with dropping out of Jabiru after being accepted. In most situations, these fees will need to be privately paid. If I cancel...

    • Prior to 31st January 2026: there will be a $100 administrative fee for processing my application. 
    • In February 2026: If your spot is not filled, you will be charged 50% of the Jabiru fees. If your spot is filled, there will be a $100 administrative fee for processing my application. 
    • In March 2026: If your spot is not filled, you will be charged 100% of the Jabiru fees. If your spot is filled, there will be a $100 administrative fee for processing my application. 
    • In April 2026: Jabiru fees are nonrefundable. You will be charged 100% of the Jabiru fees.
  • Consent for Photography and Audio-Visual Recording

  • Participants at Jabiru receive a photo album to serve as a visual memory of their time at Jabiru. This photo album is an important reminder of their Jabiru experience. It helps them integrate and solidify their participation, and it serves as an important vehicle for sharing their Jabiru experience with others.

  • Payment Information

  • Jabiru fees are listed on our website - scroll down to the heading "Fees and Funding" to see details.

    Fees are due upon your child's acceptance into Jabiru. 

    You may pay with your NDIS plan, with a credit card, or through direct deposit.

    If paying by...

    • NDIS Agency-Managed - this will be invoiced by The Sensory Gym® and claimed in full as soon as your child's application has been approved.
    • NDIS Plan-Managed - an invoice will be sent to your plan manager as soon as your child's application has been approved.
    • NDIS Self-Managed - an invoice will be sent to you for the full amount as soon as your child's application has been approved. 
    • Medicare - an invoice will be sent to you for the full amount as soon as your child's application has been approved. An EPC or Mental Health Care Plan will need to be set up prior to the start of Jabiru in order for you to claim your rebates. Rebates may not be claimed until after Jabiru has occurred.
    • Credit Card - we will contact you to provide these details upon receipt of your application. Please note that a 1.155% surcharge will be applied to credit card payments.
    • Direct Deposit - an invoice will be sent to you.
