  • Allergy and/or Dietary Needs

Food plays a big role at The Shed. Children will be interacting, eating and sharing food regularly. To keep your child, and others, safe, it's important we have a clear understanding of your child's dietary needs.
  • Medical and/or Physical Needs

The Shed is a practical, hands on environment. It's important that we have a clear understanding of any physical or medical needs your child may have. This information will help us to create the best environment possible for your child to make the most of their time with us.

  • Creating a Supportive Environment

At The Shed, we strive to provide an inclusive, welcoming environment for all participants. To ensure your child's safety and comfort, we kindly request that you share any information about their medical conditions, special needs, or behavioral/developmental considerations. Even the smallest details can help us create the best possible experience. This will allow us to make appropriate accommodations and prepare our staff to support your child throughout their time with us. All of this information will be kept strictly confidential and only shared with those directly involved in supporting your child.
  • Outdoor Exploration and Minor Injuries

I understand that as part of the nature-based activities at The Shed, my child may experience minor injuries such as insect bites, bruises, cuts, scrapes, or trips and falls. These types of minor incidents are a normal part of outdoor exploration and hands-on learning. I understand that these minor incidents will be documented and communicated to me, but may not require an immediate phone call, unless the staff have any concerns about the injury.
  • Bathroom Policy

During our outdoor programs, children may need to use nature as a bathroom. Our trained staff will provide respectful, discreet assistance if a child requires help with toileting or other intimate care needs. We will guide students to an appropriate, private location and offer support to ensure their comfort and dignity, while maintaining appropriate boundaries. For accompanied classes, caregivers are responsible for any changing that may need to happen due to accidents.
  • We encourage children to be as independent as possible. We advise that children are toilet trained or in the process of being toilet trained.

  • Medical Authorization

In the event of a head injury, major injury or medical emergency, I authorize The Shed to provide first aid, arrange transport to a medical facility, and approve emergency treatment as recommended by a medical professional for the child named above. I understand that The Shed will make reasonable efforts to contact the child's parent/caregiver and/or emergency contact at the time of a major injury or medical emergency.
  • Code of Conduct

All participants will be expected to do their best to embody and practice the Shed’s Agreements: - I show Attentive Listening - I show Mutual Respect - I am Attentive, Aware, and Safe - I use appreciations and not put downs - I have the right to participate and the right to pass
  • Technology Policy

At The Shed, we encourage participants to unplug and engage fully with their environment and each other. As such, the use of phones, tablets, digital cameras, smart watches, and other personal electronic devices is not permitted during our programs. We ask that these items remain stored away for the duration of the experience. Our staff may utilize technology for educational or documentation purposes, but the focus will remain on connecting with the environment, remaining alert and safe. Should you need to reach your child, please contact our team, and we will assist you.We appreciate your support in creating a tech-free, immersive environment for all.

Unless otherwise indicated, I give my consent to The Shed to use any photographs, or any edited versions thereof, that are taken of my child and/or myself while participating in The Shed courses or programs for use by The Shed in brochures and/or flyers that are distributed both as printed documents and/or on the Internet.
