Artful Yoga Gallery (AYG) is a not-for-profit art space located in the heart of St Kilda's creative hub.
Our mission is to celebrate diversity and dismantle traditional gatekeeping within the art world. We are committed to providing a platform for emerging and underrepresented artists to gain exposure, recognition, and meaningful opportunities in their careers.

Our group exhibitions offer artists a more affordable way to exhibit while being part of a truly nurturing and collaborative environment. Whether you’re exhibiting for the first time or looking to expand your audience, AYG is here to support your journey.
Exhibition Structure:
Artists can hire the gallery on a weekly basis for up to 8 weeks. Artful Yoga Gallery will manage the curation process throughout, though artists are welcome to rotate their exhibited works during their term (with prior coordination).
- Ground floor gallery: $500 per week
- Upstairs mezzanine level: $300 per week
Curation fee: $40 per hour (includes hanging works, creating labels, and any other curatorial tasks)
Additional gallery services such as marketing support or design can be arranged at an additional cost.
Summary of Exhibition Terms and Conditions:
- Artists are invited to submit an application. Selection is based on alignment with AYG’s mission and values.
- Selected artists will be required to sign an agreement and waiver outlining the terms of service and expectations between both parties.
- Artists must deliver their artworks (with accompanying labels) to the gallery on the agreed drop-off date. Details will be provided in the Artist Information Pack.
- Opening Night: A subsidised rate of $80/hour applies (standard rate is $150–$200/hour). AYG will coordinate and host the event, and collect donations during the evening to help support operational costs. The final opening night date will be confirmed in consultation with the artist, based on gallery availability.
- A 30% commission applies on all artworks sold during the exhibition period. The remaining 70% of proceeds will be transferred to the artist’s nominated account within 10 business days of the exhibition’s conclusion.
- If artworks are sold during the exhibition, artists have the option to replace the sold pieces. Standard curation rates apply for any re-hanging or updating of labels.
- At the end of the exhibition term, artists are required to collect their unsold works on the dates specified. Please note that collection must take place strictly on time.
The gallery will be open to the public two days per week, with standard hours typically falling on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm – 5pm. However, days and hours may vary and will be confirmed with exhibiting artists each week and advertised online accordingly.
Your gallery hire includes a staff member on-site during open hours to welcome visitors and assist with artwork sales on your behalf.
Artists are also encouraged to be present during their exhibition term to engage with visitors and the community. If you'd like to extend gallery open hours or arrange additional time to be present yourself, please contact us to coordinate.
