Trader Bill’s High School Trail
Participant Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnity Agreement
In consideration for permission to voluntarily participate in ANY Trader Bill’s High School Trail event(s), including official practice, tournaments, and related activities, I acknowledge, appreciate, and agree that:
1. Rules and Regulations
I have read and understand the description of this tournament series and the official rules. I agree to comply with all tournament rules, safety regulations, and the Angler Code of Conduct. I understand that any violation may result in immediate disqualification without refund of entry fee. Tournament officials may reject my application for any reason.
2. Assumption of Risk
I acknowledge that competitive fishing involves significant risks, including but not limited to drowning, collisions on the water, accidents, injuries from fishing equipment, weather conditions, and other hazards. I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL RISKS, BOTH KNOWN AND UNKNOWN, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE ORGANIZERS, tournament officials, sponsors, agents, or other participants.
3. Release and Indemnification
I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives, and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD HARMLESS Trader Bill’s High School Trail, Trader Bill’s Outdoor Sports, its shareholders, officers, directors, employees, agents, sponsors, host organizations, volunteers, and all other persons or entities associated with the event (“RELEASEES”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, damages, or causes of action related to any injury, disability, death, illness, or property loss arising out of my participation in this event, WHETHER CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
4. Insurance and Medical Condition
I certify that I have sufficient health, accident, and liability insurance to cover any bodily injury or property damage that may be incurred by myself or others due to my participation. I have no medical or psychological condition that would prevent safe participation.
5. Boat and Equipment Operation
If I operate a vessel or equipment during official practice or the tournament, I understand I am solely responsible for its safe operation and the safety of all occupants. I expressly assume all risks associated with operating a boat. I further certify that I now have, or will obtain before the event, property damage, watercraft liability, and/or excess medical insurance with reasonable limits, and will provide proof of insurance if requested.
6. Polygraph / Truth Verification
I agree to submit to a truth verification test at the discretion of tournament officials and abide by its results. Failure to pass will result in disqualification.
7. Media Release
I irrevocably grant Trader Bill’s High School Trail, Trader Bill’s Outdoor Sports, sponsors, and their affiliates the right to use my name, voice, image, video, likeness, and biographical information in connection with tournament coverage, promotion, and advertising without compensation or royalty.
8. Taxes and Prizes
All federal, state, and local taxes, licenses, and registrations are the sole responsibility of prize or cash winners.
9. Angler Code of Conduct
Anglers, coaches, parents, and family members must conduct themselves with professionalism, respect, and integrity, reflecting positively on Trader Bill’s High School Trail, its partners, and the sport of fishing. Violations may result in disqualification, forfeiture of winnings, suspension, or permanent ban.
10. Safe Boating and PFD Rule
Safe boat conduct must be observed at all times. During official practice and competition, each competitor must wear a U.S. Coast Guard–approved chest-type personal flotation device whenever the combustion engine is running. PFDs must be properly fastened at all times. Inflatable life vests are permitted only for participants age 16 or older and weighing more than 80 pounds.
