  • YOUTH PARLIAMENT OVERVIEW

Make sure you read the YP2026 Overview for more details before you apply.

    WHAT IS YOUTH PARLIAMENT?

YMCA South Australia Youth Parliament is a non-partisan program providing a platform for young people aged 15 - 25 to have their say on important issues, build skills and parliamentary understanding. It focuses on personal development, empowerment and connecting politicians and decision makers with youth voices and opinions.

The Youth Parliament program runs from March to July 2026 and includes mentoring, a training weekend, a week-long camp and access to Parliament House.

    **Key Dates**
    Training Weekend:
    25th- 26th April 2026 (Saturday and Sunday)
    Parliament Week:
    12th- 17th July 2026 (Sunday-Friday)

Please note regionals and participant leaders will be asked to come on Saturday the 11th for extra training.

There is a participant fee of $550 per person. YMCA South Australia will provide all successful participants with a Sponsorship Pack to assist them in sourcing sponsorship for their position if this is a barrier to participation.

There will be a $150 deposit, which is payable providing engagement within the program from the 1st of April 2026. You will need to pay this before Sunday the 19th of April, otherwise you will not be allowed to attend Training Weekend.

The remaining $400 is payable if you are still engaged in the program from the 1st of June 2026. You must pay this before Residential Week, otherwise you will not be allowed to attend the camp. If you withdraw from the program after the 1st of June, you will still be liable, and will be required to pay the $400, regardless of whether you attend Residential Week.
