Join Maoist Communist NYC to watch and discuss a 1976 documentary about how Shanghai workers in a generator factory applied Marxism to advance production and the class struggle during the Cultural Revolution.
"The Generator Factory" is a 2-hour segment from the documentary "How Yukong Moved the Mountains" by Marceline Loridan-Ivens and Joris Ivens, which was filmed from 1972-74 during the Cultural Revolution. The documentary shows how the Chinese working class continued its revolutionary class struggle under socialism to bring about a communist society, and how it had to struggle against those in the Communist Party who wanted to become the new oppressors and make the country capitalist.
This screening is happening while our Chinese Revolution Study will be covering the history of the Cultural Revolution. Our study is held weekly in Brooklyn and has 2 slots: Wednesdays at 7pm and Saturdays at 12:30pm. f you’re interested in joining, fill out this form: bit.ly/ChinaRevStudy
