  •  Submission Reminders

    • Three Categories of Petitions - Petitions can include:

      1) Changes to one paragraph or
      2) A new paragraph or
      3) A resolution.

      NOTE: Where a change in one paragraph necessitates changing another paragraph, the changes can be submitted in one petition.

      To submit legislation to change existing language, choose the paragraph number appearing first in the document to which you are proposing a change (BDD or JPP).

    • GMC Membership - All individuals submitting petitions for consideration MUST be a member of the Global Methodist Church. All cosigners be members of the Global Methodist Church. Groups eligible to submit legislation MUST meet the requirements in the Petitions Process Overview document linked above.

    • Online Submissions Only - Petitions MUST be submitted through this portal. Petitions submitted through any other means are ineligible for consideration. If you cannot submit online, please get in touch with your conference office for assistance in submitting a petition.

    • All Submissions Are Final - Once you have submitted a petition, it cannot be modified, even to correct typos. Additionally, petitions cannot be withdrawn once submitted.

    • To submit a CHANGE to a paragraph:

      • Download the PDF version of the latest version of the Book of Doctrines and Discipline or Judicial Practice & Procedures of The Global Methodist Church.

      • Copy and paste the paragraph from the PDF document into the Petition Text editor below. Copy the paragraph or subparagraph to be changed (together with its subparagraph number).

      • Make the changes to the text you copied from the BDD or JPP that you want to submit as the petition. Indicate additions using the underline; deletions using the strikethrough. (Each can be found under the ‘Format’ menu in the entry box.)

      • You will find the options to underline and strike through under the Format menu in the text editor.
