The recipient will be presented with these awards at BCMC in Omaha, Nebraska, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the SBCA Honors Dinner. Please cast your vote below; descriptions of the award is listed above the list of nominees.

This final round of voting will run from August 1-August 15, 2025.

This award honors an individual who has helped nurture, support, and grow the structural building components industry as a whole with their vision, innovation, and/or creativity.
SBC Industry Leadership Award Nominees:

John Herring, A-1 Global Holdings, Inc. – John Herring has shaped the structural building components industry for over 50 years. He co-founded A-1 Roof Trusses in 1977 and has since designed and built ten truss manufacturing facilities across the U.S. John Herring’s career is a blueprint of visionary leadership. From co-founding A-1 to guiding the formation of A-1 Global Holdings and introducing employee ownership through the ESOP, John has always been ahead of the curve. He embodies what it means to lead not just a company, but an industry—investing in technology, empowering his workforce, and building a values-driven culture. His contributions to SBCA as a founder, President, Hall of Fame inductee, and thought-leader have spanned decades. He continues to lead by example, reminding us all that at the heart of innovation and performance are people. John Herring is not only building a 100-year company—he is helping build a stronger, smarter, and more sustainable industry.Jeff Taake, Mead Lumber Co. – Jeff has helped to drive components over other framing methods for many years. He has looked to innovation and progressive methods to promote best practices in all aspects of the building industry. As our outgoing SBCA President, he has and will continue to lead our association as we follow through on our strategic plan. Jeff has led us to focus on building and strengthening our chapters. Helping us to find meaningful benefits to being a part of a chapter and to being involved. As one of the leaders and officers during some hard years, Jeff has helped to lead and shape us to where we are today. His calmness and focus has helped keep us on the right path. We are growing more and are more involved. Along with the board, he has focused our efforts on the hard and needed tasks.Chris Tatge, Dynamic Construction – Chris comes from the customer side of our industry and has a clear understanding of the industry and all its products. As one of the leaders of the NFC, he helps the industry understand the issues most of our customers deal with, he has worked on bracing updates for the framing side with SBCA, and helps give us all a voice with the framers that we as an association have lacked. He is a respected voice of our industry. He is an important member of our association and a leader that understands the manufacturing side and the use of the product. With his leadership, he helps all of our credibility where it is needed most: in the field!!
