  • Faye Dove Scholarship

     

    Faye Dove Scholarships will benefit women who have graduated from a CWJC program.  The graduates must have demonstrated perseverance   in achieving personal goals, and plan for some type of continued education, whether academic, vocational, trade, tec.  The scholarship must be used for some type of continuing education or something related to continuing education (even if non-academic). This scholarship can be used to pay for specialized training or for anything related to the training (such as: childcare, transportation, fees, materials, etc.)

    They must also continue the mentoring relationship from CWJC.  The site selects one person as nominee and completes the application, which is then sent to the state office.  Each state office will select one final applicant.  The finalists are submitted using the WMU Foundation form.  The National Advisory Group makes recommendations to the Awards and Nominations Committee of the WMU Foundation, and final decisions will be made at their Spring Meeting.  The scholarships will be distributed to the recipient’s sponsoring site to administer or sent directly to the educational or training entity. 

    Scholarships are typically $2,500 or less.

  • Process

    • The CWJC/CMJC site selects one person as a nominee and completes the application packet.

    • All completed application packets will be forwarded to the State CWJC/CMJC Contact person.

    • The State CWJC/CMJC contact person will review all submissions and select one nominee to represent the state.

    • One nominee from each state will be forwarded to the CWJC/CMJC National Advisory Group for consideration.

    • The CWJC/CMJC National Advisory Group makes a recommendation to the Awards and Nominations Committee of the WMU Foundation for the top recipients.

    • Final decisions are made by the WMU Foundation Board
       

      The originator is responsible for securing and submitting:

       

    • Endorsements from the site coordinator and mentor

    • The testimony of the nominee describing her CWJC experience and/or her faith journey

    • A copy of the site's national certification certificate

    • A signed Scholarship Covenant

  • If a scholarship program is granted for the applicant, the National WMU CWJC/CMJC office and WMU Foundation agrees to do the following:

    • Grant the scholarship monies to the CWJC site for the Faye Dove Scholarships 
    • Give visibility to the recipient through press releases, social media, and print articles
    • Notify the state WMU office

    If a scholarship is granted for the applicant, the nominating CWJC site agrees to do the following:

    • Receive funds on behalf of the Faye Dove Scholarship recipient.
    • Ensure funds are applied as indicated in the scholarship program.
    • Provide a progress report no later than 1 year after receiving the scholarship
    • Provide annual reports of the applicant for three years following graduation
