  • Sky Skills Basic

    Description: The program provides technical skills to introduce and integrate drones into the construction sector for improved safety, efficiency, and environment-friendly operations. The course prepares students to write the pilot certification for basic operations.

    Learning Outcomes:

    CAR Part IX rules and Canadian AIM Concepts, Risk Management, Safety Management Systems (SMS), aircraft capabilities and performance characteristics, mission types, and “hands-on” UAS operation

  • Sky Skills Advanced 

    Description: This program builds on Sky Skills Basic. It is an industry-driven capstone for students seeking a career path in drone technology. 

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Demonstrate flight theory, operational checklists, and mission execution
    • Explore payloads, data collection, and interconnected technologies
    • Engage with mentors to practice UAS maneuvers
  • Sky Skill Basic and Advanced Combination (only offered September 15-19, 22-23, 2025)

    Description: Gather the full-spectrum of drone skills, from from foundational operations to advanced, construction-integrated applications. This immersive, in-person program combines classroom learning (Sept. 15–19) with hands-on field training and practicum (Sept. 22–23)

    Learning Outcomes: 

    • Prepare for and write the Basic Pilot Certificate 
    • Progress from basic aviation safety and mission planning to advanced applications such as LiDAR, multispectral imaging, and connected technology integration in construction.
  • LiDAR and Extended Reality for Construction

    Description: This 3-day intensive course introduces students to the fundamentals of LiDAR technology and its integration with drones and extended reality (xR) environments.

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Gain hands-on experience in LiDAR data acquisition, processing, and application in real-world construction and planning scenarios.
    • Understand advanced use cases, regulations, and digital media integrations necessary for workforce readiness in smart construction environments.
