CKLDP EMERGING LEADERSHIP AND ADVOCACY GRANT
GRANT DESCRIPTION
AIA Miami and the Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program are committed to encouraging emerging professionals to speak up and advocate at an early stage in their architectural careers.
The CKLDP Emerging Leadership and Advocacy Grant supports emerging professionals by assisting grant recipients with the cost to participate in the AIA Florida Legislative Day or the AIA National Leadership Summit. One grant up to $1,000 will be awarded each year.
Each grant beneficiary receives AIA Miami community exposure and funds towards attending the AIA Florida Legislative Day or the AIA National Leadership Summit. Funds will be in the form of reimbursement for travel and registration: flight, hotel, summit registration receipts.
ELEGIBILITY
The AIA Miami CKLDP Emerging Leadership and Advocacy Grant is open to those who would like to further develop their leadership skills and meet the following criteria:
• AIA Miami / Fort Lauderdale Associate or AIA Miami / Fort Lauderdale Membership
• AIA Miami and AIA Fort Lauderdale CKLDP current scholar or graduate
• AIA Miami board members are not eligible
• Past recipients of award are not eligible
SCHEDULE
• Open: Monday, August 4th, 2025.
• Deadline: Monday, September 29th, 2025, by 11:59pm EST
• Recipient Notification: Monday, October 6th, 2025
• Official Announcements (please plan on attending this event):
o Annual AIA Design Awards Gala, October 24th, 2025. A complimentary ticket will be provided for awardee.
o AIA Miami website and social media accounts - headshot needed
• AIA Florida Legislative Day: January 2026 in Tallahassee, Florida
• Leadership Summit: February 2026 in Washington DC
APPLICATION CRITERIA
Applicant must submit the following:
• File name: LastName.FirstName.AIA CKLDP Grant.pdf
• 1 compiled PDF, maximum 15MB, in order shown below
• CKLDP Emerging Leadership and Advocacy Grant Application filled out
• Headshot
• Resume
• One Letter of Recommendation from a CKLDP Scholar; you may include additional Letters of Recommendations from other AIA members in good standing
• Letter of Interest including a description of what you hope to learn when you attend the upcoming Florida Legislative Day or National Leadership Summit and how you will share your experiences with other emerging professionals. (500 word maximum)
The Grant is awarded based on recommendations of the Selection Committee, as appointed by the AIA Miami board.
Grant Award recipient Obligations:
• Present to current CKLDP scholars a summary of their experience
• Be an active mentor to current CKLDP scholars
• Grant must be used by Grant recipient
• Registration through AIA Miami, travel-related expenses paid upon submission of receipts
• Must attend upcoming (2026) Florida Legislative Day or National Leadership Summit
• Attendance at the 2025 AIA Miami Design Awards Celebration
• Opportunity to serve on the CKLDP Committee (optional)
