    Reports to: Custom Manager

    Location: Port Townsend, Washington

    Job Summary

    Camp N Car seeks an Assistant Manager to aid in our day-to-day operations, helping us create world-class camper conversions here in PT. From full Sprinter builds to cozy car campers, the Assistant Manager will lend their diverse skills to ensure smooth communication between clients and the custom shop from start to finish.

    This role centers around assisting the Custom Manager with communication and day-to-day administrative tasks. You will also be working closely with the Shop Manager for client communications and inventory management, and the rest of the custom shop as needs warrant.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as an extension to the Custom Manager in day-to-day operations.
      Coordinate with the Shop Manager to ensure shop operations run smoothly.
    • Be the main point of contact for customers throughout the project, ensuring clear communication and managing expectations from start to finish.
    • Handles change orders, project scope updates, and client-facing documentation.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive Owner’s Manuals (video or written) for all builds, ensuring clients have all the information they need.
    • Assist the Custom Manager on custom projects in sourcing parts, hardware, and maintaining essential supplies to ensure project continuity.
    • Support the Custom Manager with backstock management, ensuring inventory is well-organized and stocked to support ongoing and future projects.
    • Handles supplier issues and returns as needed.
    • Prepares bays between projects to ensure projects are completed and started in an efficient manner.

    Requirements

    The ideal Assistant Manager should have a strong background in client communication in an office environment, with some experience in a shop setting as well. Attention to detail, good communication, and efficiency in producing documentation are essential. The ability to work well under pressure and accept constructive feedback is also a must.

    Additional Skills

    Not required, but useful to have.

    • Supply chain, project, or assistant management experience.
    • Work with the Custom Shop team on projects ranging from full van conversions to car camper builds, RV renovations, and beyond.
    • Fabricate a wide variety of wood furniture and components for van interiors such as cabinetry, bed platforms, storage solutions, trim pieces, paneling, and more.
    • Assist in the installation of 12V power systems in vans, run wire, affix solar panels, and occasionally work on basic plumbing and propane infrastructure as well.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Starting pay ranges between $23 - $27 an hour, depending on experience.

    Training Period

    This role offers the pay range mentioned above, depending on experience and skill level. To start, there will be a one-month training and assessment period at a starting rate of $20/hour. This allows us to get a sense of your skills and ensure the best fit within our team.

    After the first month, your hourly rate will be adjusted to fall within the offered range, based on your demonstrated capabilities.

    At the three-month mark, team members are also granted shop keys and off-hours access to the workshop and tools.

    Schedule

    • 4-day work weeks with the potential to increase to 5-day work weeks if desired
    • Work days start at 9:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM with unpaid lunch and one paid break
    • Possibility to increase to 10-hour workday after 90-day probationary period
    • Opportunities for a flexible schedule as needed with advance notice
