Counselling is confidential. Anything you say in a session will not be passed on to any third party without your consent. Your attendance in sessions also will not be discussed. However there are legal exceptions which I must bring to your attention:
Legal exceptions to confidentiality
If you have knowledge of a serious crime and share this information, then I have a legal obligation to disclose this to the relevant authorities.
If you pose a threat or imminent serious concern to someone else's safety, then I have a legal and moral obligation to disclose this.
If you pose a threat to yourself, then I have a moral and legal obligation to contact your current treating GP.
Wherever possible though, I will endeavour to seek your permission before disclosure.
Counselling is in peak demand currently. If you cancel an appointment within 24 hours I reserve the right to charge for the full appointment fee. To avoid this please notify me 24 hours before if you need to cancel. If there is continued non-attendance 3 time of more, this may lead to cancellation or termination of service.
Most Face-to-Face appointments occur at Hope Church in Martin. Ellis Brook Therapies is not affiliated with this church, we simply utilise their rooms. We are not a religious practitioner.
