POSITION SUMMARY
The Ascension of Our Lord Greek Orthodox Church seeks a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Administrator to support our mission through sound financial stewardship. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including contributions, disbursements, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in non-profit or church accounting, a high level of integrity, and a commitment to our values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and budget vs. actual reports.
- Assist in preparing the annual church budget and supporting year-end close and audits (internal and external).
- Maintain accurate records for all church funds, including General, Designated, Building, and Memorial Funds.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and investment accounts monthly, ensuring accurate transaction coding.
- Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll and administer payroll taxes (e.g., W-2s, 1099s, FICA) and benefits deductions.
- Manage all incoming stewardship contributions and support overall stewardship program (e.g. generate and distribute quarterly statements, support annual stewardship campaigns, etc.)
- Issue payments (checks or electronic) and generate invoices for programs, tuition, or events.
- Ensure all financial procedures comply with church policies and non-profit best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of full-charge bookkeeping or accounting experience; non-profit or church experience preferred.
- Proficient in QuickBooks (required) and Microsoft Excel/Office Suite.
- Experience with Pushpay or other church giving platforms is a strong plus.
- Highly organized with excellent time management and interpersonal communication skills.
- Able to work independently with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated alignment with the mission and values of Ascension Church.
COMPENSATION & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- $20.00 – $25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
- 15–20 hours per week during regular business hours
- Minimum one day per week in the office; working remotely the remaining days
- This position is not eligible for benefits.
