Please read the following information: SUSS advisers may need to contact 3rd parties including the university and other agencies in order to achieve the best out-come for your case. The Advisers may wish to contact third parties deemed relevant and beneficial to the successful completion of your case i.e. external agencies, student services, your schools, tutors and relevant university departments. Should the student withdraw consent for this, SU Student Support will no longer be able to support the case. We will never contact a third party unless it is deemed beneficial to the overall outcome of the case. Advisers will only deal with the student. Third parties are not permitted to accompany students to appointments unless necessary and an adviser can terminate the meeting if non-agreed third parties are present. The adviser will request that you are alone, cannot be overheard and not recording the meeting. In accordance with the data protection act all information will be treated in strictest confidentiality. Clients are able to request to see their files but must give a minimum of two days’ notice. All case records will be archived for seven years and then destroyed. If there has been no contact from the student within a twenty eight working day period the case will be closed. If a student would like a third party (friend/relative/solicitor) to attend a hearing, the Adviser will withdraw from the case and any further appeals pertaining to this case will need to be progressed through the chosen third party.
