Waiver and Release of Liability

I, the undersigned, acknowledge and agree that:

1. Assumption of Risk:

I am voluntarily participating in the 2025 Alberta Open Kendo Championships. I understand that kendo is a martial art involving physical contact and strenuous activity that carries an inherent risk of physical injury, including but not limited to sprains, fractures, concussions, and other serious injuries. I hereby voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation in this tournament.

2. Release of Liability:

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the 2025 Alberta Open Kendo Championships, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the tournament organizers, including any volunteers, instructors, agents, and representatives (collectively referred to as "the Released Parties") from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any injury, death, or damage to property sustained by me as a result of my participation in the tournament, whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise.

3. Indemnification:

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to my participation in the tournament, including any legal fees and expenses incurred in defending such claims.

4. Medical Treatment:

I acknowledge that I am physically fit to participate in the tournament and that I have obtained any necessary medical clearance prior to participation. I consent to receive medical treatment deemed necessary by the Released Parties or medical personnel in the event of an injury or illness during the tournament.

5. Photo/Video Release:

I grant permission to the Released Parties and its representatives to use photographs, videos, or other recordings of me taken during the tournament for promotional, educational, or other purposes without compensation to me.

6. Governing Law:

This waiver and release shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada. Any legal action arising out of or relating to this waiver and release shall be brought exclusively in the courts of Alberta.

Acknowledgment and Signature

I have read this Waiver and Release of Liability in its entirety and fully understand its terms. I understand that I am giving up substantial rights, including my right to sue the Released Parties for damages resulting from injury, death, or property damage. I sign this waiver voluntarily and without any inducement.
