Eligibility: All 501(c)(3) public charities and fire departments/districts serving communities across Montana are encouraged to apply. Priority consideration will be given to departments/districts demonstrating financial need and a commitment to firefighter safety and professional development. Private foundations, non-501(c)(3) charities or individuals are not eligible.
Grant Amount: Recipients will receive between $500 - $1,000 to apply to any of the following funding areas.
Funding Areas - Applicants may request support in the following areas:
- Gear: Turnout gear, SCBA units, helmets, boots, and other safety apparel
Training: Certification programs, technical rescue training, wildfire response, EMS, and instructor-led courses
- Convention Attendance: Travel and registration costs for regional or national fire service conventions that offer training sessions, technical exhibits, and networking opportunities
- Equipment: Radio communications, thermal imaging cameras, ventilation tools, and vehicle enhancements, health and safety/FF safety workout equipment, extrication equipment, tech rescue equipment, EMS delivery equipment, active attack incident response equipment.
How to Apply: Applications are accepted online and must be submitted by September 1, 2025.
Selection Criteria
Grants will be awarded based on:
- Demonstrated community need
- Alignment with program priorities
- Feasibility and sustainability of the proposal
- Impact on firefighter safety and service delivery
Award Notification: Selected departments/districts will be notified by September 15th. Disbursement will be made after reimbursement requests are received, including receipts and any required reporting.
