What is ¡DALE!
¡DALE! (Development, Advocacy, Leadership, and Engagement) is a youth organizing program of On the Margins that creates conditions of empowerment for high school students to address educational justice in Sonoma County. Through ¡DALE!, participants develop leadership, organizing, and project management skills as they design and implement advocacy campaigns in their schools and communities.
The Role of a Community Mentor
Community Mentors are vital to the success of ¡DALE!. As a mentor, you’ll support a team of 5–7 youth organizers as they identify an issue they care about, design a campaign, and take action in their school or community.
Your role includes:
- Offering guidance on campaign planning, project management and budgeting
- Supporting youth with accountability, encouragement, and resources
- Modeling leadership, power sharing, and community care
Time Commitment: 8–10 hours/month (September 2025 – March 2026)
- Attend two ¡DALE! sessions per month

- Join two full-day retreats
- Saturday, September 6, 2025
- Saturday, March 7, 2026
- Meet regularly with your youth team (flexible scheduling, decide as a team)
- Participate in monthly virtual mentor check-ins with ¡DALE! staff
