Eligibility of Godparent/Sponsor

A godparent/sponsor is required for the person to be confirmed, whenever possible. The godparent/sponsor is to take care that the confirmed person behaves as a true witness of Christ and faithfully fulfills the obligations inherent in this sacrament. If you know the godparent/sponsor's name, please list it below. The godparent/sponsor must be 16 years of age or older, is baptized and has received the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation. The godparent/sponsor must also be in good standing with the Catholic Church and live a life of faith which befits the role to be undertaken. The godparent/sponsor cannot be the father or mother of the one to be confirmed.

FAMILY COMMITMENT
Our Confirmation Sacramental Preparation Program at Blessed Trinity is very much a family-focused program. We ask for your commitment in working with the catechists to prepare your child to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation by joining us weekly at one of Sunday Masses (4:30pm on Saturday or on Sunday at 8:00am, 9:30am, 11:15am, or 7:00pm), ensuring your child has completed the necessary program assignments and attends the scheduled retreat, and whenever possible by attending other non-sacramental preparation program parish events to get to know other families within our parish community. If your child is absent for more than one session during the program and/or your child is unable to attend the retreat, we will meet with you to discuss if perhaps the sacrament of Confirmation should be received at a later date.
INFORMATION SESSION AND PROGRAM OFFERING
On November 8, 2025 at 8:45am we will hold a mandatory information session for all parents and candidates. We will have a short prayer service followed by information on the program, key dates, and expectations.

A program offering of $75.00 is requested to cover the costs of materials, the retreat, and administration. This offering can be made by cheque payable to Blessed Trinity Parish with your child's name and Confirmation Prep in the memo line or by cash. If you are not able to make this offering, please contact Tanya at btfamilylife@gmail.com. As always, the inability to pay will not be a hindrance to participating in this program.
