  • Guidelines

    Nevada Faculty Alliance will only consider providing financial support for employment-related matters. Employment-related matters may include, but are not limited to, evaluation, promotion, salary, denial of tenure, rescission of tenure, termination, administrative leave, conditions of employment, faculty and professional employee rights, Code and Bylaws disputes, Code and Bylaws violations, violations of collective bargaining agreements, constitutional rights, accusations under affirmative action guidelines as those accusations affect employment, and governance issues as governance issues affect employment, subject to the definitions and exclusions stated in this policy.

    Other matters may fall under a different legal process such as ADA, Title IX, or EEOC.

  • NFA will not communicate through any NSHE-operated email or phone services. Please provide your personal email address to ensure communications remain confidential.

  • To be eligible for legal defense support, an individual must be part of the bargaining unit, which consists of academic faculty and non-supervisory administrative faculty at 0.5 FTE or greater, and be a TMCC-NFA member in good standing.

  • Workplace Issue

  • Please describe to the best of your ability the issue(s) that are leading you to consider legal action. If possible, please cite the sections from any or all of the following governing documents that you feel are relevant:

    • TMCC-NFA Contract
    • TMCC Bylaws
    • TMCC Policy Manual
    • Board of Regents Handbook
    • NSHE Procedures and Guidelines Manual
  • Please describe what actions you have taken, if any, to resolve the issue(s) described in the previous question.

  • Do you wish to pursue a formal grievance as outlined in Article 13 and Article 14 of the TMCC-NFA Contract

    By submitting this form, members who are approved for legal assistance funding beyond an initial consultation with a participating attorney agree to the following:

    1. To abide by the provisions of this Legal Defense Policy;
    2. Not to terminate their membership in the NFA while receiving such assistance, except that legal assistance may be continued with NFA State Board approval in the case that the member's employment with NSHE is terminated by the employer as a result of the employment-related matter;
    3. To reimburse NFA for legal assistance funding in the event of a monetary settlement or award exceeding their expenses in the case;
    4. To cooperate in good faith with the participating attorney and the NFA.

  • Non-bargaining TMCC-NFA members

    TMCC-NFA will provide guidance to part-time faculty members and other non-supervisory members, but cannot provide them with  fiancial assistance for legal consultation.
