As a TFMC Servant Leader, I understand that leadership is a privilege, and that with privilege comes responsibility. Therefore, I am willing, by the grace of God, to commit myself to and believe in the following areas of mission, vision, belief, action, and attitude.
Mission: At TFMC, we want our students to go deeper in their relationships with friends, family and Jesus.
Vision: At TFMC, everything we do is driven by our desire to see our students exalt God, engage in ministry, evangelize the nations, embed in community, and expand their understanding of Scripture
Belief: I affirm that I will uphold the beliefs of Thomaston First Methodist Church and the Global Methodist Church.
Action and Attitude: Because I believe that my Christian faith is expressed in my lifestyle and that actions speak louder than words, I agree to the following:
- I will faithfully attend the weekly program(s) that I commit to on Sundays and/or Wednesdays.
- I will do my best to arrive early so that I can welcome and connect with students.
- Because I believe that relationships take time, I will be at special events sponsored by TFMC YTH whenever my schedule allows.
- Believing that students need to know that there are adults who care about them, I will follow up on students that I come in contact with and try to spend time with students outside of our regularly scheduled times and events (ie. write a note, make a phone call, etc.) in a way that is appropriate and establishes healthy boundaries.
- I will attend any special meetings for TFMC YTH Servant Leaders or that I am requested to attend by the youth pastor, to the best my schedule will allow.
- Because I refuse to be divisive or harm the unity of the group, I will take any concerns or frustrations directly to those who will be part of the solution.
- I will use my gifts and abilities to glorify God in the ministry He has called me to while expecting to be equipped with the necessary tools to be successful.
- Recognizing that teachers of God’s Word have a high responsibility to be truthful and accurate, I will adequately prepare all materials beforehand.
- I will live a life worthy of the calling I have received and one that will reflect positively on the ministry I am volunteering to serve as well as set a positive example for the students I work with.
By signing this document, I am pledging to faithfully follow the above expectations in the eyes of God, the youth pastor and the church. With God’s help, I pledge all of these things.
