REQUIREMENTS FOR CHAPTER COLONY FOUNDING APPLICATION
- Completed and signed Founding Application and Commitment Pledge with at least 12 eligible founding sisters
- Eligible founding sisters must have at least two (2) full semesters remaining as an undergraduate at the time of application
- Eligible sisters must meet all membership eligibility requirements as stated in the Sigma Alpha Omega National Bylaws as follows:
- Sigma Alpha Omega was founded and shall always work to further the teachings and principles of the Christian religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and faith in the one God who is an indivisible Holy Trinity comprised of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Membership in Sigma Alpha Omega is offered by invitation only to eligible persons who profess such faith for so long as they continue to profess it and otherwise comply with the membership requirements of Sigma Alpha Omega. Sigma Alpha Omega shall never discriminate on the basis of race or color.
AND
- The membership of this national organization shall be granted to any Christian female student at the resident college or university of a recognized Chapter and their respective alumnae. If a college or university does not allow for the formation of social sororities, a Christian female student at that school is eligible for affiliated membership in a recognized Chapter within traveling distance of that school, pending approval of the active members, or may choose to begin the chartering process with others, without campus recognition. A Chapter with affiliated member(s) will keep the school name of the recognized Chapter, despite the affiliated membership. - Payment of the nonrefundable Founding Application fee as prescribed in Article IX “Dues, Fees, and Assessments” of the Sigma Alpha Omega National Bylaws (*Please ask the Vice President of Expansion to confirm the current filing fee amount of $20/founding sister applicant, as of June 2014. This fee will not be collected until all required applications are received.)
