  • Event Overview:

    The Orion Art Center 24-Hour Art Challenge is back! This exciting event invites artists to push their creative boundaries by designing and rendering a piece of art in just 24 hours, based on a prompt provided by our Challenge MCs—artists Matt Faulkner and Eugene Clark.


    Date: February 21st and 22nd, 2026


    Location: Orion Art Center Moosetree Studio: 3191 West Clarkston Rd. Lake Orion, MI 


    First Place Prize: $500


    General Rules:


    Registration:

    All participants must by at least 14 years of age and register by February 15, 2025.


    Art Prompt: The challenge prompt will be announced by the MCs (Matt Faulkner and Eugene Clark) at the start of the event. All artwork must adhere to the given prompt and art creation guidelines provided.


    Time Limit: Participants will have 24 hours to create and submit their artwork. The challenge begins at 10 am on February 21st and ends at 10 am on February 22nd 2026. No artwork will be accepted after the 24-hour mark.


    Artwork Specifications: Artwork must be an original creation on an 11” x 14” flat surface. Use of any AI model to create any stage of art will disqualify a participant.
    Mediums allowed: Drawing, painting, digital art and two dimensional mixed media on an 11” x 14” flat surface. Participants are responsible for providing all necessary materials (e.g., paper, canvas, digital devices, etc.).

    Prizes:  Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the Challenge. Prize categories and details will be announced in the coming weeks. 


    Submission: Artwork must be submitted by the end of the 24-hour period. Details regarding submission format and delivery will be provided closer to the event.
    Judging Criteria: Submissions will be judged based on creativity, interpretation of the prompt, technique, and overall artistic quality. Judges will consist of Matt Faulkner, Eugene Clark, and other appointed industry professionals.


    Conduct: Participants are expected to maintain a respectful and professional attitude throughout the event. Any form of harassment or disruptive behavior will result in immediate disqualification.


    Liability: Orion Art Center and event organizers are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged materials during the event.


    Cancellation Policy: In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Orion Art Center 24-Hour Art Challenge may be rescheduled or canceled. Registered participants will be notified in advance. No refunds will be issued for any cancellations, whether initiated by the participant or the event organizers.
