  • Join us for a FREE 2-hour field trip at the Nature Learning Center in Fremont's Central Park

    2025/2026:
    Use this form to request a field trip between the months of November 2025 and May 2026. 

    November-January: Tuesdays and Wednesdays are available 
    February-May: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are available 

    If you prefer a field trip in October please reach out to us directly for assistance with making a reservation. These requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis as staffing allows.

    Please note that there is currently a large-scale restoration project in Stivers Lagoon which may impact our outdoor teaching location for portions of this season. The project is anticipated to be complete by late 2025.

    • -Field trips currently available for 2nd and 3rd grade classes only
      -Classes must be a Fremont-based public, private or homeschool group
      -Class size is limited to 32 students. Field trip programs require a minimum of 12 students. If your group is less than 12 students we encourage you to visit us during public hours for unstructured classroom exploration.
      -One adult chaperone is required for each 5 children (this includes teachers/aides, parents and guardians)
      -Teacher and chaperone participation is encouraged as it enriches the program

      We are only able to accommodate one field trip at a time with a maximum of 32 students. Please submit separate requests for each individual class. 

      Please note that our field trips include outdoor exploration and are taught rain or shine. Please keep an eye on the weather and advise your participants to dress appropriately.

       

      For 2025/2026: We are asking for your assistance in distributing our photo release form to your group in advance of your visit. Signed forms will be collected upon your arrival to your field trip. 100% participation is not required for attendance, but we do ask that you distribute the form. We are hoping to update our outreach materials with current photos and it would be tremendously helpful to have your support in this area. The photo release form will be provided in advance of your scheduled trip. 

       

      Our field trips are taught on-site at our Nature Learning Center and surrounding environs. Participants are required to arrange for transportation to and from our facility.

      The Nature Learning Center is located in Central Park near the Aqua Adventure Waterpark and Palms Pavilion Picnic Area.

      Parking is available on a first-come first served basis in the nearby Aqua Adventure Waterpark Parking Lot.

      Cancellations:
      We understand that things come up and teachers may need to cancel their field trips. If you must cancel, we ask that you please inform us with as much advance notice as possible so we can offer the timeslot to another group. Our calendar is limited and at times we have a waitlist, so we appreciate your attention in this matter.

      Please consider transportation methods, traffic and travel time when selecting your start time.
    • The duration of the program is 2 hours from the start time selected above. 

      *Please disregard what will appear to be a 15-minute appointment when you receive the system-generated email upon submission of this request. The actual end of the program time will be reflected when you receive an emailed confirmation from our staff.

      - This may include field trip coordinators, fellow teachers etc. 
      - Please provide your information if you are requesting this field trip on behalf of someone else.

    • The best way to secure a field trip is to choose a date and time listed above. We understand that some groups may not be able to join during our regularly scheduled program times.  

      If you are interested in attending one of our field trips but the dates or times above do not work for you please reach out to Clean Water Education Program Admin Patrick O'Connell poconnell@fremont.gov. Please allow extra time to process these requests as we may have to check in with additional staff etc. 

      Special Requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. We may not be able to accommodate special requests due to staff availability, scheduling conflicts, classroom availability and/or other factors, however we encourage you to reach out and inquire.
