  • Election Sign Permit Categories

    City of Markham Municipal Sign Permits are for the erection of election signs on private property (or the abutting boulevard) and designated local intersections within the City of Markham.

    York Region Regional Sign Permits are for the erection of election signs on designated regional road intersections within the City of Markham.

    Most candidates tend to acquire both permits to maximize visibility.

  • Acknolwdgement:

    Any election signs erected or installed in violation of York Region By-law 2015-36 or Markham By-law 2018-8 shall be removed under the direction of the Manager of By-law and Regulatory Services and any sign found in contravention shall be administered a $29.00 service fee per sign.

    Unpaid invoices may be collected by action or the amount added to the tax roll and collected in the same manner as taxes.

    Where this Sign Permit has been issued prior to the official issuance of the Writ, I acknowledge and agree that election signs shall not be erected prior to the day after the writ is drawn or in the case of a municipal election, 28 days prior to the final day of voting.
