Hello NAACP Friends & Family.
THANK YOU for agreeing to participate in our upcoming Field Work as part of our overall statewide civic engagement campaign and implementation plan. As we shared at the Campaign Forum, our branch has been awarded a grant to canvas and phone back for the next 2.5 weeks leading up to the election. We will use canvassing lists that are pulled from VAN and we have specific precincts in Opelika that we will focus on in our community. Although ALL voters in Opelika are important, we are going to focus our initial efforts on those registered voters in Wards 1 & 2 who DID NOT VOTE in the last general election.
The intent of this canvassing is to speak directly with registered voters in our community who DID NOT VOTE in the last General Election, ENCOURAGE them to vote, and to SHARE the important role that local elections play in shaping the lives of residents on a daily basis. We also hope to impress upon them how voting can impact the overall well-being of our Opelika community in general.
Encouraging citizens to vote is a fundamental pillar of a healthy democracy. It empowers individuals and strengthens the collective voice, all of which leads to more responsive and representative government. As a result, this is OUR opportunity to directly influence and transform the lives of those who may resonate with the information we will share with them.
As always, THANK YOU for your continued support of our branch, as well as for your support of “CANVASSING and CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS” in Opelika.
The FIERCE Urgency of NOW is here!!!
