• SVEC College Scholarship Application

  • Award Eligibility

  • The Silicon Valley Engineering Council Engineering (SVEC) Education Awards recognize undergraduate students for their dedication, focus, and commitment to engineering. Engineering and Technology students graduating from high school are eligible. The award is $1000 and students may receive a SVEC Education award only once.

  • Criteria

    - The applicant should be studying or residing in one of the following 8 counties: San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz.

    - The applicant’s program of study is directly focused towards engineering or technology.

    - The applicant has shown involvement in STEM activities (e.g., engineering, science, math, computing, or technical organizations).

    - The applicant has shown involvement in community and/or social services activities.

    - The applicant provides two letters of recommendation: one or more can be from faculty, organizational leaders or club leaders who can speak to applicant's activities and performance in the above areas and one from a peer who has received support/guidance from the applicant and can discuss the impact the applicant made on the peer

    - The student exhibits strong academic performance as shown by GPA in the major and overall, as well as strong recommendations from faculty advisors.

    Granting of Awards

    Awardees will be notified through e-mail by February 7, 2026, and will be awarded at the SVEC Engineers Week Banquet the week of February 16, 2026. It is expected but not required that awardees attend the banquet. Each recipient and one companion will be SVEC guests.

  • Please provide the name of your primary reference, which should be a faculty/counselor/advisor who can speak about your academic and STEM achievements. The secondary reference is a peer who will discuss how you made an an impact or impression on their life. A peer can be a classmate, co-worker or a member of a STEM organization.

    Please have your references send a reference letter by email to education-awards@svec.org. The email subject should be "Reference letter for "Student Name (place holder for student name)". Reference emails should arrive on or before the application deadline.
