Supervisor Mike Rodriguez Must Resign
The Context:
While Supervisor Mike Rodriguez still owns a home in MiraBay, he has accepted a full-time civilian contract position in Hawaii as a base housing HOA manager. This is not a military deployment or a short-term assignment — it is an ongoing job thousands of miles from the community he was elected to represent.
The Issue:
- Not Physically Present: Being on the other side of the Pacific makes it impossible to attend in-person meetings, inspect district facilities, or meet with residents face-to-face.
Fails the Spirit of Representation: A Supervisor’s duty is to be engaged and available in the district, not just hold property here.
Quorum Concerns: Extended absence can jeopardize the board’s ability to reach quorum, slowing down decisions and harming operations.
Loss of Local Insight: Without living here day-to-day, Supervisor Rodriguez cannot have the same firsthand understanding of ongoing district issues.
Why This Matters to Residents:
CDD leadership requires immediate availability, active participation, and presence within the community. By choosing to live and work in Hawaii, Supervisor Rodriguez has effectively removed himself from the daily responsibilities of this role. Our district needs leaders who are here, engaged, and committed to representing the people in person.
Our Position:
We, the undersigned residents of MiraBay, call for the immediate resignation of Supervisor Mike Rodriguez from the Harbor Bay CDD Board of Supervisors so the seat may be filled by a representative who lives here and can fully perform the duties of the office.
