• Composer-in-Residence Application

  • Two composers will be in residence at Orvieto Musica Festival, June 13–July 3, 2027. The Prize is fully funded.

    Please read the Application Guidelines before you begin.

    Applications close December 21, 2026, and composers are notified by January 31, 2027.

    There is no application fee. 

    Please provide the following materials:

    • Recordings and Scores Two contrasting works (see Recording Guidelines below)
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume

    Recording Guidelines:
    Applicants must submit two contrasting works, totaling no more than 15 minutes. While there are no specific repertoire requirements, we encourage applicants to present diverse musical styles in their selections. Recordings should be uploaded to YouTube (either unlisted or public) or submitted as MP3 files. You may submit either one or two video links, or MP3 files as an alternative.

  • Submit two contrasting works (up to 15 minutes total). PDF scores may be accompanied by live or MIDI recordings, or shared via YouTube (unlisted or public). One or two links may be submitted. No required instrumentation—variety is encouraged.  Ideally at least one work should be for chamber ensemble.

  • If I am selected, I keep the copyright in the works I write for the Orvieto Composition Prize. I grant Orvieto Musica a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence, without time limit, to perform those works and to record, archive, broadcast and stream the performances, in full or in part, for non-commercial, educational and promotional purposes. Orvieto Musica owns the recordings and is responsible for all performance licences, including SIAE. I may use the recordings of my own works for non-commercial professional purposes, crediting Orvieto Musica and the performers. Premieres are credited “Written for the Orvieto Composition Prize, Orvieto Musica, 2027.” Any commercial release will be agreed separately in writing. This licence does not affect royalties due to me through a performing rights organization.
