    New Member Application Form

    This form is intended for new members joining the Association and anyone rejoining after a gap in their membership. It is not for renewal of existing memberships.

    Our membership year runs to the end of October each year. Memberships commencing now will last until 31st October 2026.  You will be invited to renew a few weeks before expiry.

  • Full Individual membership is for an adult aged 18+ who keeps bees, or intends to keep bees.

    It includes:

    • Membership of Huddersfield & District Bee Keeping Association (HDBKA)
    • Membership of Yorkshire Beekeepers Association (YBKA)
    • Membership of the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA)
    • Bee Disease Insurance for up to 3 colonies of bees

    You can add additional insurance for further colonies below, if needed.

  • Junior Individual membership is for a child aged under 18 on 1st November 2025 who keeps bees, or intends to keep bees.

    When handling bees, the child must be supervised by an adult who is themselves a Full Individual member or part of a Family membership.

    This membership type includes:

    • Membership of Huddersfield & District Bee Keeping Association (HDBKA)
    • Membership of Yorkshire Beekeepers Association (YBKA)
    • Membership of the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA)

    It does not include any Bee Disease Insurance as it is assumed that this will be provided via the membership of the supervising adult.

  • Family membership includes 2 adults aged 18+ who keep bees, or intend to keep bees, plus any number of children (who are interested but not directly involved in handling bees). All these individuals must be resident at the same address.

    It includes:

    • Membership of Huddersfield & District Bee Keeping Association (HDBKA)
    • Membership of Yorkshire Beekeepers Association (YBKA)
    • Membership of the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA)
    • Bee Disease Insurance for up to 3 colonies of bees

    You can add additional insurance for further colonies below, if needed.

    NB. If a child is handling bees, they should hold their own Junior Individual membership.

  • Social membership is for an adult aged 18+ who EITHER:

    • Does not keep bees but would like to support the work of the Association and attend non-apiary events, OR
    • Is already a Full or Family member of another Beekeeping Association and wants to add Huddersfield & District too.

    Membership includes membership of Huddersfield & District Bee Keeping Association (HDBKA) only.

    It does not include membership of YBKA or BBKA, nor any insurance cover.

  • ​We welcome schools joining the Association - we are eager for younger people to embrace bee keeping and learn about the wonderful world of bees!

    School membership includes:

    • Membership of Huddersfield & District Bee Keeping Association (HDBKA)
    • Membership of Yorkshire Beekeepers Association (YBKA)
    • Membership of the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA)
    • Bee Disease Insurance for up to 3 colonies of bees.

    You can add additional Bee Disease Insurance for further colonies below, if needed.

     

    Completing the membership form

    The named member must be a member of school staff and use a school email address.

    If your school keeps, or intends to keep, bees you can choose to add 2 additional individuals to the membership free of charge. These could be staff, parents or governors.

     

    Additional insurance considerations to bear in mind

    • Beekeeping activities on-school site should be added to the school's own insurance.
    • Apiary visits off-school site will need to be covered on school' own insurance.

    • Schools can choose to add 2 additional individuals to their membership free of charge. These can be staff, parents or governors. If you'd like to do this, please provide details below.

      If you have more than this, there is an additional insurance premium. If you have 40 or more colonies, please contact us.

      If you are a UK taxpayer, please consider Gift Aid. Agreeing to it means that for every £1 of your membership fee, the government will give us an extra 25p at no cost to you.
