  • History and Mission of the Program

    Arturo L. Jaramillo, the first Hispanic president of the State Bar of New Mexico, developed the Summer Law Clerk Program in 1993 to provide and make accessible inclusive equal employment opportunities by offering first year law students from diverse backgrounds that have historically been underrepresented in the legal profession the opportunity to clerk in legal settings that provide a foundation for the students’ law careers.
