Young Citizen of the Year

This category aims to acknowledge the community contributions of young people (12 – 25 years) in the Shire.

Nominees for the 2026 Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year awards will be recognised at an Awards Ceremony to be held on Wednesday 14 January at the Meeniyan Hall.

The achievements of each nominee will be also be featured in local newspapers, on Council's Facebook page and online. The names of the overall winner in each categroy will also be inscribed on the Australia Day Honour Board in Memorial Hall.

Please attach at least two letters of support which complement the nomination. Letters of support can be from an individual, or an office bearer writing on behalf of a group. Please note that South Gippsland Shire Council Councillors and staff cannot be referees.

Please attach a minimum of two high resolution images of your nominee (including a portrait). It is important that these images are high quality as they will be used in the local papers and also be enlarged for viewing, via projector, at the awards ceremony.
