    Nursing Bursary Standard

    The Adelaide Health Foundation is committed to ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent the study of nursing at Tallaght University Hospital.

    Bursaries are provided from the voluntary funds of the Adelaide Health Foundation and the awarding of a bursary is solely within the discretion of the Foundation.

    Applications are open to 1st 2nd and 3rd year student nurses who are attached to Tallaght University Hospital. 

    If you have narrowly missed out on SUSI funding due to level of household income, you may still be eligible for AHF Bursary

    Personal details will be kept strictly confidential.

    Please Read the Following Terms Carefully

    Bursary award is based on means tested income 

    Basis for assessment (“Who” is Means Tested/Assessed)

    · For Leaving Certs and School leavers between the ages of 17 and 23 years on or before 1 January on year of entry - the income of the applicant’s parents/guardians will be assessed.

    · For mature dependent applicants (over 23-year-olds residing with and dependent on their parents/guardians) - the income of the applicant’s parents/guardians will be assessed.

     *The assessment will be made for the income year prior to the year of entry (i.e. last year's income)

    Required Documentation

    Before you proceed, please have the following documents ready to submit[upload]. 

    • Proof of all income is required for each relevant section. e.g
      • If income is from Department of Social Protection, provide Social welfare statements from last year[2024]
      • If income is from employment provide the Employment Detail Summary/Statement of Liability (former P21) for 2024.
      • If income was from Self-Employment/Farming please submit your 2024 Form 11 return summary or Business Accounts (with Tax exemption if applicable)
      • If income was from other sources e.g. Investments, Life Bonds etc. you must submit bank statements for 2024
    • Proof of registration as a student at TCD. You must be a Registered Student at Trinity College Dublin 
    • Proof of SUSI grant OR letter of refusal for your 2025[CURRENT] application

    When Providing Details

    • Password protected pdfs will be rejected. 
    • In certain circumstances, further documentation may be required
    • If you are unsure whether a source of income should be included in your application, you should provide details of this income. 
    • You may supply a description of your own or your family’s circumstances in the ‘Special Circumstances' section if you feel that it would be helpful in assessing the application.
    • AHF bursaries must be re-applied for every year

  • INSTRUCTIONS

    Closing Date is NOON, Thursday 30th October 2025

    • You must complete every section. Incomplete forms cannot be processed.
    • Your application will not be processed without supporting documents.
    • Supporting documents must be submitted with the application. [You may submit bulky documents separately but all must be received by closing date].
    • It is your responsibility to ensure the Application is fully and properly completed
    • Applications received after the closing date will not be considered
    • Do not use your @TCD email address [use personal Yahoo, Gmail etc emails only]
    • Check your SPAM/JUNK mail for our correspondence to you.  
    • Due to heavy server traffic on the closing day, applicants are strongly advised to submit applications well in advance of the deadline

    AHF will acknowledge receipt of your information. If you do not receive an acknowledgement from AHF-Jotform, first check your SPAM/JUNK Mail folders. If you still have a query, send an email to Esther@adelaide.ie 

    AHF take no responsibility for incomplete applications or missed deadlines due to missed email communication and are not in a position to make any allowances for same.

    INCOME DETAILS OF PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF DEPENDENT APPLICANTS
  • This section relates to the household income of the parents/guardians of dependent applicants for 2024 on which your application will be assessed.  

    You must submit proof of all 2024 income. 

    Please read carefully. 

    • All 2024 income received from all sources should be declared as required. 
    • All information in respect of income should be as accurate as possible to prevent delays in processing your application. [If you cannot confirm the exact amount, please give as accurate an estimate as you can]. 
    • If income was from Employment (PAYE)/Pensions,  please fill in details as per your 2024 Employment Detail Summary/Statement of Liabilty (former P21).
    • You must submit a copy of the summary(which can be found on your ROS account)
    • If there was payments from Social Welfare, please fill in details for 2024 and submit 2024 Social Welfare statements
    • If income was from Self-Employment/Farming please submit your  Form 11 return summary or Business Accounts (with Tax exemption if applicable)
    • If income was from other sources e.g. Investments, Life Bonds etc. you must submit bank statements for 2024
    • SUSI funding for 2025/26 college year – Provide proof of grant.
    • If you were refused funding, you must provide the letter of refusal.
    • If you did NOT apply for SUSI funding please indicate reason at the 'special circumstances' area.

  • If you have applied for (and been refused) SUSI funding – you may still be entitled to a bursary from the Adelaide Health Foundation. Please upload letter of refusal or If you did not apply, indicate reason at the 'special circumstance' box.
