Afterschool Instructor Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in joining the WayOut Kids team! We’re looking for passionate, reliable instructors to lead engaging, hands-on STEAM activities for students in grades K–5 and 6–8. Our instructors are more than activity leaders—they’re mentors who help create a safe, inclusive, creative, and positive space for students after school.

What We’re Looking For

Previous teaching or afterschool experience is not required! What’s most important to us is that you:

Enjoy working with kids and building positive relationships with them
Are willing to be a mentor, role model, and encouraging adult in their lives
Are reliable, engaged, and ready to participate alongside your students
Are willing to learn, take feedback, and grow as an instructor
Bring a positive attitude and are comfortable with a little creative, hands-on chaos!

We provide training, activities, curriculum and support to help our instructors feel prepared and successful.

Background Check Requirement

All instructors must be able to pass the required background screening to work in our school-based programs. Please be aware that the following may prevent an applicant from being approved to work in our programs:

Sexual offenses
Domestic violence offenses
Abuse-related offenses
Weapons-related offenses within the past few years

We understand that people can grow and change, and that a person’s past does not always reflect who they are today. However, because our programs take place in schools and serve children, we must follow school district background check and eligibility requirements.
