  • Home School Partnership Contract

Kuumba Academy's philosophy is that students can best reach their full potential when there is a high level of involvement by their parents in their education. Accordingly, part of the school's educational plan is an agreement between parents and the school known as the Home School Contract. The intent of this contract is to encourage parental, student and staff involvement and cooperation in the school's education program, to empower everyone with respect to the students' education and to strengthen partnership among parents, students, and educators.

Shared Expectations Parents choose to send their children to Kuumba Academy because they have high expectations of the school and the education the children will receive. In turn, the school has high expectations that families will contribute to the team effort needed to fulfill the school's mission. Students, families, and educators believe in and embody the Kuumba Core Values of respect, responsibility, persistence, and creativity. Students, families, and educators work hard each day to meet high academic and behavioral expectations that will lead them to success in high school, college, and beyond. Excellence at Kuumba cannot be accomplished without the active participation of the families of the enrolled students and the shared belief in Kuumba's expectations.

The success of Kuumba Academy is dependent on a meaningful partnership between families and the school. A meaningful partnership involves the administration, and teachers being responsive to the concerns of parents. In turn, parents have a responsibility to respect the professional expertise and experience of the educators. Parents will have an opportunity to share their voice and advocate for their children throughout the school year. This will include parent conferences, focus groups, and parent meetings.
