Blackstone Bicycle Works 2025 FALL Earn-A-Bike Workshop Series is a free after-school youth program of Experimental Station, offering participants from disadvantaged communities on Chicago’s South Side opportunities to learn bike mechanics, bicycle advocacy, cycling, STEAM, and career & workforce development.
Join our After-School Bike Workshop! In this hands-on workshop series, participants will learn essential bike maintenance and repair skills, from fixing a flat tire to tuning gears. Throughout the program, participants will work on bikes, gaining practical experience and confidence. As a reward for their hard work, they'll earn their very own bike to keep at the end of the session. Perfect for those eager to build something they can truly call their own!
Session Dates:
After-School:
SESSION #1 SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 23 (SESSION #1 is FULL)
SESSION #2 OCTOBER 28 - DECEMBER 4
Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Participants will learn bicycle mechanics, maintenance, repairs, and safety while working alongside PRO instructors and industry professionals. As they progress, there will also be opportunities for paid internships and apprenticeships at Blackstone, as well as paid externships at professional bike shops across the city.
BBW’s After-School program also includes STEAM learning experiences (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), food education, cycling training, group bike rides, art projects, field trips, and college & career training.
To ensure hands-on learning, each session is limited to eight (8) participants. Selection is based on registration date and alignment with BBW’s mission, with priority given to participants who live on the South Side of Chicago and come from underserved communities.
We aim to create an inclusive community, prioritizing youth from Woodlawn and surrounding neighborhoods. We welcome participants who may feel underserved and those with limited access to resources due to factors like racial/ethnic identity, social/economic class, religion, gender identity and expression, disabilities, size, or sexual orientation.
If you’re not selected this time, you’ll be placed on a waitlist and notified. You are encouraged to apply again for future sessions.

Incomplete registrations will not be accepted.
