Library Research Instruction at SLU
This is a research experience best designed to coincide with general research instruction or specific instruction related to an 1818 writing or research assignment. Your 1818 dual-enrolled students should come prepared to work on a current assignment.
Students will receive research instruction from one of SLU's Librarians tailored to their instructor's assignment. Computer access will be vital so students should expect to use a personal laptop during this time. If students will require devices to be able to participate, please let us know in advance, so we can secure a space that offers desktop computers.
For 1818 Instructors, we offer either on-campus or virtual research instruction:
- In person on SLU's campus at Pius XII Memorial Library
- Virtual library research instruction in your own high school classroom over Zoom
Guidelines for making a library visit request:
- For all fall requests, the deadline is October 1.
- For all spring requests, the deadline is March 1.
- At least 2 weeks’ notice for request
We strongly urge that in advance of the visit, 1818 instructors lead students in accessing mySLU for the first time. We can provide SLU Net IDs and Banner IDs for all registered students as well as instructions for accessing my SLU and are even able to conduct a Zoom presentation/support for the visiting class.
