The Jewish Leadership Program: FJL Summer in Tel Aviv 2026 Application Canada/Australia
  • The Jewish Leadership Program: FJL Summer in Tel Aviv 2026 Application Canada/Australia

    Program Dates: Trip 1 MAY 7 - JUNE 16, 2026 | Trip 2 MAY 14 - JUNE 23, 2026
  • Canada/Australia Program Dates: This summer, we're excited to be running two parallel FJL trips, starting May 7 and May 14. Offering two dates lets us welcome more participants while keeping groups small, with final trip assignments made after acceptances based on factors such as Birthright scheduling and summer camp commitments.

Please note that if accepted, you will also need to complete the Birthright Israel Onward form, which will be included in your acceptance email.

FJL Summer in Tel Aviv 2026 Application & Onboarding:

    1. Complete the FJL Application (this form). The application will ask for some basic personal information, details about your Jewish background and involvement, and two short essay questions (100-150 words each). It should take about 10-15 minutes to complete.
    2. After review, you'll be notified to schedule an interview.
    3. If accepted, you’ll be notified within a few weeks, and a non-refundable US$500 deposit will be due.
    4. Internship Placement: After paying your deposit and filling out the Birthright Israel Onward application (opens in November), FJL’s internship coordinators will help you find a placement.
    5. The remaining balance is due when your internship is confirmed or two months before the program starts, whichever comes first.
    6. Cost & Financial Assistance: The full cost of setting up and running the program is in excess of US$7,000. Birthright Israel Onward provides automatic scholarships for applicants who haven’t participated in an education-based Israel program for more than 3 months (within the last 3 years), reducing the cost to US$4,550. (Early bird pricing of US$3,950 closed on October 23rd.) Additional financial aid may also be requested in the application.

    *Flight costs are not included.
**Participants must purchase travel health insurance through FJL’s group policy. More details will follow.
***Programme costs are in Israeli Shekels and based on a US$/Shekel exchange rate of 3.5. If there is a significant drop in the exchange rate, then we may have to ask for an increased payment.

  • Trip Date Preference

This year, we’re excited to be offering two program tracks to welcome even more Canadian participants while keeping our signature close-knit community feel:  May 7 – June 16  and May 14 – June 23. Both trips will be virtually the same, with shared programming such as Sunday trip days and FJL Nights. Some elements, like Shabbatons, rooming, and small group activities, will be separate for each track. This will allow us to accommodate more participants while keeping the trips small and intimate. We’d like to understand if you have any specific date conflicts that would prevent you from joining one of the sessions - for example, a planned trip, summer job, or camp commitment.
