To interact with SARS, file tax returns, and manage all your company's tax affairs on eFiling, you must appoint a Public Officer. This individual serves as the official registered representative for your company and is legally responsible for its tax compliance. The appointment of a Public Officer is a mandatory step that must be completed promptly after company registration. SARS has recently removed the one-month grace period, making a timely appointment crucial to avoid penalties and ensure a smooth start to your business operations.
Required Documents:
We'll require the following documents for SARS:
- Appointment letter signed by all directors (drafted by us).
- Clear copy of the Public Officer's ID document.
- A recent photo of the Public Officer holding their ID and a note that says "update my details.
- Proof of the Public Officer's residential address (e.g., municipal bill, lease agreement).
- Copy of your company's COR14.3 registration certificate.
- The Public Officer's personal SARS income tax number.
