Spring Art Class Registration
  • Spring Art Class Registration

  • Let's get started!

All classes will take place at the Yawkey House Garden located at 403 McIndoe Street in Wausau.

Please see below for class descriptions. You will be prompted to select a class for each child on page two of the registration form.

  • Wonderwood

    Ages 2–4 | Tuesdays 10–11am | Caregiver attendance required

In Wonderwood, mini makers explore textures, colors, light, and movement using natural and everyday materials. Sensory invitations, nature walks, and open-ended studio play gently guide children from exploration into creative expression through pressing, layering, sorting, and mark-making.

  • Maker's Trail

    Ages 5–8 | Tuesdays 3:30–4:30pm | Caregiver attendance optional

Along the Maker’s Trail, children explore natural and repurposed materials, experiment at discovery tables, and follow their curiosity on nature scavenger hunts. In a Montessori-inspired mixed-age setting, younger makers learn by watching older peers, while older children build leadership.

    • What to Expect in Class
    • Children move through a playful rhythm of discovery, starting with a sensory invitation, then exploring natural materials outdoors, followed by open studio creation, and wrapping up with a short goodbye ritual to celebrate our little discoveries.

Each week introduces a new botanical art project using media such as clay, collage, printmaking, and painting. Inspired by the changing seasons, children work with materials gathered from the regional landscape or foraged during class, deepening their connection to the plants, animals, and natural cycles that surround them.

Along the way, we practice skills such as fine motor, sensory awareness, problem-solving, collaboration, observation, and creative confidence. We engage as a group in a predictable, supportive, hands-on environment where experimentation is encouraged and ideas are valued.

Classes take place at the beautiful and whimsical Yawkey House Garden (not to be confused with the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum!), with roughly half of the time spent outdoors in the garden and half inside the adjacent carriage house, where restrooms are available.
