  • If you have joined the ACC Register through an equivalence route (e.g., your training or qualifications took place outside the UK, or you gained your qualifications prior to the introduction of Level 4 Diplomas, or have an alternative non-standard training route), please contact us and we will confirm the guided learning hours that have been accepted for the qualifying component of your training.

However, you may wish to add an entry in Part 7 as Supplementary Information to give more detailed information of how you met one or more competences in your training and experience discussed in Part 2 or Part 3.

    We would expect to see a variety of CPD activities which may include online courses, face to face courses, reading books and journal articles, listening to podcasts etc.

  • 3.1 Overview of your counselling practice by setting

    Please provide us with totals of your counselling practice hours by setting for the most recent 450 hours of counselling practice completed (please note any practice breaks). (Refer to Guidance notes for an example).

    You will include information about your training and experience in the sections Part 2 Training and Part 3 Experience. However, you may wish to add an entry in Part 7 as Supplementary Information to give more detailed information of how you met one or more competences in your training and experience discussed in Part 2 or Part 3.

  • 4.1 Details of current supervision

    Please let us know of any specialist areas of practice and/or client groups. Examples may include, but are not limited to, complex trauma, eating disorders, addiction, EMDR, psychosexual therapy, working with children and young people, couples, families.

    Please provide information about how your work with your specialisms is covered by supervision. You may state that your usual supervisor covers all areas of your work. However, if your usual supervisor does not or is not able to supervise any specialism, demonstrate how this work is supervised, e.g., through specialist peer group supervision, support from specialist professional networks, etc.

  • 4.3 Details of supervisor for accreditation reference 

    If you have more than one current supervisor, please choose the supervisor who has supervised the majority of your counselling practice hours, to provide a reference for you and confirm your practice hours. Please feel free to request a reference from more than one supervisor if you feel that it would support your application to do so. This may be the case, for example, if you have a supervisor who acts in a consultancy role for a specialist area of your practice. You will be asked in 4.4 to send a reference form to your supervisor(s).

    Normally, we would not accept references from peer supervisors; please contact us if this presents a problem.

    Please ensure that you have explicit consent to record your supervisor's name and contact details as requested on this form.

    Assignment one requires a written essay which should include the following two sections: 

    6.1.1 Section one: Introduction and context of practice

    6.1.2 Section two: Critical reflections on counselling approach with case study(ies)

     

    Assignment one also includes a third section which is completed by using the answer fields in 6.1.3.

    Answering the following two questions, include a brief critical reflection on the value of your counselling and supervision notes in supporting your practice (approximately 200-500 words in total).
