      JUDGING PROCESS

      • All Foggy Mountain Fall Fair attendees can vote (1st 2nd and 3rd choice) for the “People’s Choice” pie between 1 and 3:00 pm in Buchanan Hall.

      • This will be based on the appearance of the pie and the creativity and attractiveness of the display. The decoration of your display space is a key part of the competition.

      • The Top 4 Pies from People’s Choice and the Top 4 Pies visually selected by the Judges will move on to Final Judging Event at 4:00 pm. These 8 Pies will be judged by a special celebrity panel on Overall Appearance, Crust (form and taste), and Filling (form and taste). Audience members will also have opportunities to taste the pies!

      • Awards will be presented after the judge’s vote followed by a lively auction of all the pies. Proceeds support the Cumberland Community Forest Society upcoming Middle Earth land Acquisition


      RULES

      • Entrants must provide TWO fresh baked fruit, sweet vegetable, or nut pies per entry

      • Provide 2 copies of the pastry and filling recipe

      • Pie Display (2 feet wide)) set up is – 12:00 and 1 noon in Buchanan Hall

      • Tables and linens will be supplied. Have FUN with your set up!

      • The Primary FILLING ingredient should be made from an ingredient that can be grown in British Columbia. For example: Apple, stone fruit, cherry, rhubarb, berry, walnut etc. Examples of acceptable non-local secondary ingredients: Lemon in an apple pie, Ginger in a pear pie.

      • BRING YOUR OWN PIE SERVER and NOTE: one pie is auctioned so the pie plate is a give away

      • If your pie has any dairy ingredients, you must display on ice or cool packs as per food-safe standards. Failure to keep ice box pies cool will result in disqualification.
