Application Criteria

For the 21st edition VOLTA will showcase a curated selection of emerging and mid-career galleries.

Main Fair proposals will be assessed on the following criteria:
- Have a diverse artist program;
- Provide a strong proposal with curatorial vision and high-quality work.
- Propose either a solo presentation or ensure a dialogue between artists or thematic continuity in their multiple-artist presentation;
- Present artists and themes that represent cutting-edge medium, new ideas, or tell stories that haven’t been told;
- Provide information on connections with any significant collections or institutions who they will bring to the fair;
- Present a program that is engaged with the contemporary art market and show insight and connectedness with international collectors;
- Provide full pricing transparency where possible, including price lists for collectors to take away – our data shows that this is essential for sales during and post-fair.
Frische! proposals will be assessed on the following criteria:
- Galleries should be under five years old; Or,
- Operate without a fixed abode; Or,
- Demonstrate innovative, creative or experimental approaches to the gallery model and the market.
All proposals will be reviewed by the Artistic Director, with oversight from our international Board of Advisors.

An administration fee of CHF350 + 8.1% VAT is due with the submission of your application.
