    Re: Pamlico County Training-Pamlico Central School Alumni Assoc., Inc. 2025 Membership Drive

    We have officially organized the Pamlico County Training-Pamlico Central School Alumni Assoc, Inc. We are a 501(c)3 organization in the state of North Carolina. The alumni of these schools and attendees of Pamlico County Middle School have come together to form this organization. The founding officers are Jacqueline Gibbs Matthews, Chair, Terry Garrison, Vice Chair, JaNay Smith, Secretary, Julia Squires, Assistant Secretary, William Rouse, Treasurer, Darrell Gibbs, Assistant Treasurer.

    Plans by the Pamlico County Board of Education to close and dispose of the Pamlico County Middle School (formerly Pamlico County Training-Pamlico Central School site) within two years have prompted a much-needed action to preserve the black history of our school that we dearly loved. We desire to continue reunion gatherings once led by Teresa Jones Badger now deceased. But we most urgently desire to acquire and maintain the Pamlico County Middle School property in full or in part through several initiatives including fundraising grants, and other efforts.

    The purpose, mission goals, and objectives for the organization have been developed for a 501(c)3 status application. These will be shared with the alumni members and supporters.

    YOU CAN HELP PRESERVE THE CULTURAL HISTORY OF PAMLICO COUNTY TRAINING- PAMLICO CENTRAL SCHOOL BY BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE ASSOCIATION OR SIMPLY BY DONATING TO THE ASSOCIATION.

    Members and supporters of the Alumni Association will receive regular updates on plans, activities, and other information for the organization. Please follow us on Facebook and checkout our upcoming web

    Attached is an application for membership or donation. Please complete and return with your membership fee or donation as soon as possible. Please share with other alumni or friends who may desire to join or support our association. Time is of the essence.

    Continue to sponsor the All-Classes Alumni Reunion weekend in 2025

    Seek contributions and grant funding to determine the best feasible use of the property to preserve its heritage, benefit the community, and generate income long term to make the property sustainable

    Conduct historical research and continue our efforts to acquire a National Historic Property designation for Pamlico County Training/Pamlico Central School

    Increase our community outreach

    Create a multi-media platform to share our story and to enable members to stay connected

    Annual membership dues are $50 and may be paid in full or with a bi-annual option of $25. PCT/PCS is applying for its 501(c)3 non-profit status, ensuring tax deductible donations. Dues and other donations are specifically used to support programs, etc. that are aligned with our mission and vision.
