  • Game Development with Unity | Fall 2025 | Gr 9-12

Turn your love of gaming into a real skill with career potential.
  • This fall, Ontario Tech’s Engineering Outreach is offering Game Development with Unity, a beginner-friendly workshop where high school students in grades 9 to 12 will learn to design and code their own basic 2D game using Unity, the same professional engine used to build thousands of popular titles.

This is more than just a fun after-school activity. Unity and C# are industry-standard tools that open doors to careers in game development, software engineering, animation, and beyond. Students will walk away with a completed game project they can showcase, as well as skills they can highlight in portfolios, post-secondary applications, or as a first step toward a career in technology.

    What students will do

    • Learn Unity, one of the most widely used game engines in the world
    • Code in C#, a versatile programming language used beyond gaming
    • Design and test a 2D game from idea to prototype to playtest to final build
    • Apply core game design principles such as movement, physics, scoring, and user interface
    • Finish with a basic but fully functional 2D game they designed and coded themselves

    Why parents choose this program

    • Teaches in-demand coding and problem-solving skills
    • Provides a professional-level project to strengthen school and program applications
    • Offers a fun, structured way to explore careers in technology, engineering, and digital design
    • Beginner-friendly, no prior coding experience required
