  • Rental Rates

    Standard Rental Rate: 
    50% Deposit Required.
    Deposit will be deducted from your final bill.

    These rates apply to individuals, small businesses, and for-profit corporations:

    The Study (classroom): $30/hour during open hours

    The Studio (art room): $35/hour during open hours

    The Lounge (main area): $75/hour during open hours

    Entire Facility (2-hour minimum): $175/hour (outside of open hours only)

    Repeated Educational Programs:
    $50 Depsoit Required.
    Deposit will be deducted from your final bill.


    These are educational programs that run no less than 1x per week during regular open hours, in accordance with The Workshop's educational calendar, and are pre-approved by our Director of Education, meeting all of our criteria for homeschool or afterschool programing:

    The Study (classroom): $25/hour or 10% of program gross revenue

    The Studio (art room): $30/hour or 10% of program gross revenue

    The Lounge (main area): $50/hour or 20% of program gross revenue


    Non-Profit Partnership:

    Non-profit or community led programs & initiatives without a facility budget who are offering 100% free programming that enhances the community & aligns with The Workshop’s Mission Statement:
    No Deposit Required. 

    For non-profits & community members offering enrichment programming or community-enhancing events at no cost to participants (such as grant funded programs or volunteer-run projects, etc.) where the renter does not have a facility budget, we can explore mutually beneficial arrangements instead of a rental fee, such as:

    - Joint letters of recommendation to funders
    - Social media, word-of-mouth, and & email mentions
    - Other collaborative promotional efforts
    - Exchange of services in collaberative settings

    Non-Profit Programs with a Facility Budget or Cost for Participation:
    $25 Deposit Required.
    Deposit will be deducted from your final bill.

    Standard Required Deposit:
    Deposit (if required): 50% of hourly rate for total number of booked hours or $50 dollars if percentage rate is applied. 
    Non-Profit Organizations pay a flat deposit of $25 for rentals paid either hourly or by percentage.
    Deposit payment is due at the time of booking unless otherwise arranged.
    Deposits are non-refundable!
    Full payment is due by close of last rental date unless otherwise arranged. Deposit amount will be deducted from final bill.

  • The following information is part of The Workshop Community Center's rental contract.
    Please check each section to agree:


    Use of Facilities

    Renter agrees to:

    • Encourage all participants to sign The Workshop's liability waiver (one time) & check-in at our front desk for safety & security reasons upon arrival for programs during open hours.
    • Obtain renter/event insurance for full facility rentals outside of open hours.
    • Use the space only for the stated purpose.
    • Supervise all guests, participants, and children at all times.
    • Limit attendance to the safe occupancy of the rented space (inquire if in question)
    • Not engage in or permit illegal, unsafe, or disruptive activity.
    • Refrain from political or activist-related events (per The Workshop’s guidelines).
    • No consumption of alcohol on premises.
  • Included Amenities
    Depending on the space rented, available amenities may include:

    • Tables & chairs
    • Lounge seating
    • Play area for children (Renter responsible for supervision)
    • PA system, microphone, TV, projector screen, & white boards.
    • Basic classroom or art supplies (when using The Study or The Studio)

      Please notify The Workshop of any intent to use art or classroom supplies in advance.

  • Responsibilities

    • Set Up & Clean Up: Renter is responsible for setup and for returning the space to its original condition. Rooms are equipped with instructions & pictures for reference.
    • Damages: Renter will be held liable for any damage to property, furnishings, or equipment caused during the rental. 
    • Food & Drink: Allowed unless otherwise prohibited. Renter is responsible for cleanup, including post-event disinfecting to help prevent accidental allergy contact.
    • Alcohol is not permitted on the premises.
    • Smoking is not permitted inside the building or within 15 feet of our doors.

    All used materials & amenities must be properly stored & put away back to its original state. Items that are misused, broken, or lost will be charged to you in full price to replace the item. 

  • Insurance & Liability

    The Workshop is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property.
    Renter assumes liability for all activities and participants during the rental period.
    For events outside of normal business hours, The Workshop may require a Certificate of Liability Insurance listing The Workshop as additionally insured.

    All participants for programs offered during The Workshop's open hours must sign The Workshop's liability waiver (one time annually) and check-in at the check-in desk upon arrival. 
    This helps us keep our space safe, know who is in the building in case of an emergency, and helps us protect ourselves and you against accidental injury. 

  • Cancellations & Additional Fees

     

    • Cancellations made by renter at least 48 hours in advance may receive a refund if previously paid in full. However, deposits are non-refundable for renter cancellations, unless our Executive Director approves it in the case of an emergency cancellation, as stated below.*

    • Cancellations made within 48 hours of rental time may forfeit all rental fees and are subject to paying remaining balance in addition to deposit unless our Executive Director approves it in the case of an emergency cancelation, as stated below.*

    • *Cancellations due to illness, family or medical emergencies, unsafe travel conditions (following ASD's weather advisory), or other circumstances beyond our control are refundable. The Workshop will alternatively offer you other dates/times before refund is made.

    • Deposits are refundable in the case of cancellation due to these uncontrolable circumstances once approved by our Executive Director. For any reason, if the reason for cancellation is in question or does not fit these emergency qualifications, but you'd still like to get your deposit refunded, you can submit a Letter of Request for Deposit Refund to our board of directors by emailing aimeelucia@theworkshopanchorage.com The Workshop's Board of Directors will review your request. The decision to refund a disputed cancellation deposit is at the discretion of our board members' vote.

    • The Workshop reserves the right to cancel rentals due to emergencies, unsafe travel or building conditions, or violation of policy. Deposits will be 100% refunded for cancellations made by The Workshop for any reason, with the exception of violation of policy or breech of contract.
    • Cancellations made by The Workshop due to violation of policy or breach of contract will be charged an additional $250 inconvenience fee for breach of contract. This includes violation of our code of conduct policies (listed below), rentals under false pretenses, the consumption of alcohol or smoking on premises, and/or rental facilities being left messy or disrupted from original state beyond reasonable wear and tear.

    • Failure to remove all property from the facility after your rental term ends may result in the confiscation of property left behind. If an item is left behind accidentally, we will notify you. You have 7 days to remove stored items once the rental term is complete, unless otherwise arranged.

    • Additional note about storage of items for regular renters: Renters who rent regularly (i.e. for weekly programming) may store their materials in our lockers or in our storage room. Items must be clearly labeled with your name or business name. Please communicate with our team where your items are being stored. Items must be removed within 7 days of rental completion, unless otherwise arranged.


    Weather Cancellations Policy

    The Workshop will run off of the Anchorage School District cancellations for weather. If ASD cancels school for weather then classes will be cancelled at The Workshop. The Workshop will alternatively offer you other dates/times before refund is made.
    Deposits are refundable in the case of cancellation due to these situations once approved by our Executive Director.

  • Wellness Policy: Stay Home If You're Sick

    At The Workshop, we prioritize the health and well-being of all patrons, students, families, and volunteers. In order to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment, we ask that participants do not attend events if they are sick. 
    This policy helps prevent the spread of illness and ensures that everyone stays as healthy as possible.

    Guidelines for Illness:

    Stay Home if You Have Symptoms: If your child is experiencing symptoms of illness, such as fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, or nausea, please keep them home from class. It's best to rest and recover fully before returning to class.
    COVID-19 & Other Contagious Illnesses: If your child has been diagnosed with a contagious illness, such as COVID-19, the flu, or another viral infection, please keep them home until they are no longer contagious and have recovered. 
    When to Return to Class: A student should only return to class once they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication (e.g., fever-reducing drugs). 

    Cancellations made due to illness & medical emergencies are 100% refundable.

  • Code of Conduct Policy

    GENERAL CODE OF CONDUCT 
    (MANDATORY FOR ALL GUESTS)

    To ensure a safe and inclusive environment, all participants must adhere to the following:

    Respect: Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Discriminatory or disrespectful behavior is not tolerated.
    Safety: Follow all safety guidelines and instructions.
    Cooperation: Work with volunteer staff and others to maintain a positive atmosphere.
    Cleanliness: Keep the facilities clean and report concerns promptly.
    Compliance: Follow all rules and regulations of The Workshop Community Center. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action, such as being temporarily removed or permanently banned.
    Supervision: Children under the age of 14 MUST be accompanied by an adult who assumes full responsibility for the child.

    PLAY AREA CODE OF CONDUCT 
    (MANDATORY FOR ALL GUESTS)

    Do not come play if you are ill.
    Wash hands or sanitize before playing with toys.
    Use inside voices; no yelling.
    No vulgar language or offensive speech.
    No running, jumping, or climbing.
    Share and take turns.
    Be respectful of others, including volunteers.
    Put toys away and clean up spills.
    Always have adult supervision.
    Listen and comply with volunteer instructions.

    Volunteers will remind you if rules are broken.
    If behavior persists, volunteers will notify the parent/guardian. Continued issues may result in removal for the day.Physically aggressive behavior may lead to immediate intervention by volunteers, with a report provided upon request.

    Educational Programming Supplies List

    For Regular Educational Programming Only:

    For teachers with regular weekly programming,
    we require you to contribute the following per semester:

    • 1 Box of Standard 24lbs Printer Paper
      (Box = 10 Reams or 5,000 Sheets)
    • 48 Glue Sticks
    • 24 #2 Pencils with erasers

      Optional, but very appreciated:
    • Expo Markers
    • Bathroom Tissue / Toilet Paper
    • Paper Towels
    • Disinfecting Wipes
    • Spray Cleaners / Disinfecting Sprays
    • Colored Printer Paper
    • Markers, crayons, paints, brushes, scissors, etc.
    • Ground Coffee for coffee bar
    • Disposible cups, cutlery, plates, napkins, etc.
    • Children's books for the free book shelf 


    • Printer Copy Machine Use Terms

      Please note that renters have access to use our monochrome copy machine for a $15/semester fee. This helps cover our ink expenses & printer maintenance. Permitted users will be added to the approved list that will be posted near the printer. Please note this $15 charge will be billed with the deposit.
      You may opt out of this printer fee if you do not plan to use the copy printer.

  • Once this Rental Contract is approved, we will be in contact with you to officially book your rental and collect your deposit payment (if applicable), if that has not been done already. 

    Refusal to complete contract will result in rental booking being removed/canceled. 
    This contract must be completed and signed before rental term begins.

    Deposits (if applicable) must be paid upon time of booking, with the exception of weekly educational programing or percentage pricing, as agreed upon. ahead of time

    Please note that all rental requests are subject to rejection for any reason, as decided by our Board of Directors. 
    The Workshop maintains the right to refuse service to anyone.
