DPC LA LIGA – Season 1 - Rules & Format August 2025 League Format • The league will be composed of 6 teams, each with 4 main players (2 men and 2 women). • During the first 5 sessions, a round robin phase will be played, in which all teams will face each other once. At the end of this round: • The 4 teams with the highest number of accumulated points will advance to the semifinals. • The teams finishing in 5th and 6th place will be eliminated and will not continue to the final stage. • The playoffs will take place during the last 2 sessions of the league: • Semifinals: The 4 qualifying teams will face each other on 2 courts. • Final and Third Place Match: Played simultaneously to determine the final positions. Duration and Schedule The league will last 7 consecutive weeks, with weekly sessions played on Tuesdays at Champions Padel Club, starting on August 19 and concluding with the final on September 30. Game Format per Session • Each session between two teams will include 8 timed matches of 12 minutes each: o Game 1: Women’s Doubles (M1A, M2A) vs (M1B, M2B) o Game 2: Mixed Doubles (H1A, M1A) vs (H1B, M1B) o Game 3: Mixed Doubles (H2A, M2A) vs (H2B, M2B) o Game 4: Mixed Doubles (H1A, M2A) vs (H1B, M2B) o Game 5: Mixed Doubles (H2A, M1A) vs (H2B, M1B) o Game 6: Mixed Doubles (H1A, M1A) vs (H2B, M2B) o Game 7: Mixed Doubles (H2A, M2A) vs (H1B, M1B) o Game 8: Men’s Doubles (H1A, H2A) vs (H1B, H2B) • Each player will participate in 4 matches per session. Points scored in each match will be accumulated. The team with the highest total points will win the session. • At the start of each session, a coin toss will determine which team serves first. The team serving first will start from the side of the court closest to the wall. Teams will then alternate court sides for the remaining matches in the session. • All matches will follow the Traditional Scoring System: points are only earned by the serving team. Serving players must switch positions after winning a rally on their serve. Each team has two service opportunities before a side out, except for the very first serve of the match, which will allow only one serve. • Each match will end when the official timer sounds. If a rally is in progress when time expires, that rally will count toward the final score. • If a match ends in a tie at the end of regulation time, play will continue under the Sudden Death Point Rule: the team that wins the next rally will win the match, regardless of who served. The rally must continue as a direct continuation of the previous point, with all player positions and serving order respected. • Between each match there will be a 3-minute break, during which Captains must ensure that their players are present and ready for the next scheduled match. An acoustic signal will be given 1 minute before the start. • Captains are responsible for recording the score of each match on the official scoresheet located on the clipboard at the side of the net. • Any conflict must be resolved exclusively by the captains. Players must channel complaints through their captain, who will discuss them privately with the opposing captain. The joint decision of the captains will be final. If no agreement is reached, the issue must be escalated to the League Superintendent or, in their absence, the League Director, whose decision will be final. Forfeit Matches • A match will be declared a Forfeit under the following conditions: • If a player is not present when called to participate and no substitute has been requested in advance using the official substitution procedure. • In this case, the score will be recorded as 0 points for the absent player’s team and 6 points for the opposing team. • A Forfeit will also apply if, at any point during the session, a team loses a player for any reason (injury, withdrawal, personal reasons, etc.) and cannot continue, regardless of the cause of absence. Tiebreakers In the event of a tie in accumulated points during a session or in the overall standings, a tiebreaker match will be played under the following format: • Women’s teams will play first until one team reaches 5 points. • Then the men’s teams enter, and the score continues until one team reaches 10 total points. • Tiebreakers will be played under the Rally Scoring System. This same tiebreaker rule will also apply during the playoffs if there is a tie in matches won and point differential. Playing Level (DUPR) • Only players with a DUPR rating of 4.0 or lower may participate. • Substitutes must have a DUPR equal to or lower than the average DUPR of all main players in the league, based on the data from the day prior to the session. • Players with NR (Not Rated) status may participate as main players or substitutes if approved by at least 4 captains. Registration and Fees • The cost per main player is $190 for the full season. • The captain of each team is responsible for submitting the full payment for all 4 main players in advance. Substitute Pool and Rules for Substitute Players • The Substitute Pool will consist of registered male and female players. • Free registration, with the requirement of being on DUPR with a numerical rating. • NR players must be approved by the League Director. • Unregistered substitutes will not be accepted. Eligibility: • A substitute must not have a DUPR higher than the average DUPR of all main players, based on DUPR data from the day prior to the session. • In the case of a permanent absence, the substitute must have a DUPR equal to or lower than that of the main player being replaced. Availability and Notification: • The substitute list will be available to all captains. • The captain must notify the League Director in writing (via WhatsApp) from the day before and up to 2 hours before the start of the session. • Outside of this time frame, no replacement will be allowed and the match will be declared a Forfeit, even in case of injury. Permanent Absence: • A permanently absent main player may be replaced by an approved substitute. • Once replaced, the main player may not return for the remainder of the league. Captain’s Absence: • If the captain cannot attend, they must designate in writing a main player as acting captain. • If the captain is present but injured, they may continue to serve in their role. Substitutions: • Substitutes may temporarily or permanently replace any main player, following the rules above. • Once a substitute begins any match of the session, they must complete the entire sequence of matches assigned. This means that if the absent main player arrives after the substitute has started their first match, the main player will not be allowed to participate in the remainder of that session. CANCELLATION / REFUND POLICY • No Refunds: All registration fees paid for participation in DPC LA LIGA are non-refundable, regardless of the reason for cancellation. • By registering for DPC LA LIGA, all participants acknowledge and accept this Cancellation & Refund Policy.
