    2025-2026 Youth Program Application

    Raleigh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
  • Raleigh Alumnae Chapter (RAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., has a long legacy of youth programs which promote academic excellence, community service and leadership.

    The Raleigh Alumnae Chapter youth programs include:

    • D.E.L.T.A. Carousel (Boys & Girls Grades K-12) - provides Development, Education, Leadership, Talent and Achievement activities for youth at all grade levels.
    • Delta Academy (Girls Grades 6-8) - encourages interest in math, science, technology and careers where minority women are underrepresented.
    • Delta GEMS (Girls Grades 9-12) - helps girls actualize their goals, encourages self-reflection and individual growth. GEMS stands for Growing & Empowering Myself Successfully.

    The youth programs meet once monthly from October - April.

    Delta Academy - 3rd Sunday 3pm
    Delta GEMS - 3rd Sunday 3pm

    All youth program participants must reside in the Raleigh Alumnae Chapter service area. 

    Completing this application allows the applicant to apply for up to 2 youth programs at the same time; however, they may only participate in 1 program each year.

  • Delta GEMS Essay

  • Instructions: Write an original essay responding to the prompt that corresponds to the applicant's status. The essay should be typed in double-spaced format and uploaded with the application. Your response should be 250-350 words in length. Be sure to address all parts of the prompt using correct grammar and spelling. The essay may be Word, PDF or another text editor format. Applicants are prohibited from using generative AI to produce any part of their essay.

    New GEMS Applicant Prompt:

    Write a brief personal statement that will give the Delta GEMS committee a picture of who you are as a student and as an individual. You may include something about your family, academic aspirations/surroundings, or extracurricular activities in which you participate to help tell your story.

    Returning GEMS Applicant Prompt:

    Empowerment often begins will the courage to use your voice. Describe a time when you or another young woman demonstrated empowerment through action or words. What made this moment significant? Finally, explain how young women can use their voices today to uplift and empower others in their schools and communities. Be sure to provide clear examples for both.

    Lots of people try to give us advice - parents, friends, siblings, teachers, etc. Tell a true story about a time you were given or gave advice. Tell if the advice was followed or not and the results.

     Describe the activity/topic from Delta Academy 2024-2025 that was most impactful to you and why. Would you recommend this activity again? Would you make any changes?

  • Thank you for your interest in the Raleigh Alumnae Youth Programs. Upon submission, this application will be routed to the appropriate Youth Program chairs for review.

    Notifications of acceptance will be emailed using the contact information provided in the application.

    Parents will be emailed the risk management fillable PDF forms to be completed for each applicant. Please email or bring the completed signed forms to the first program session in October.
