    We are proud to announce the return of the Indigenous & Multicultural Filmmakers Grant to support emerging voices. The grant encourages diverse storytelling and is open to Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse/Multicultural filmmakers residing in South Australia.

    Proudly supported by the City of Adelaide and ProAV Solutions, four successful applicants will receive up to $400 to help cover participation costs, which can include the registration fee and equipment hire through ProAV Solutions. This may not include payment of cast and crew. Per the 48 Hour Film Project official rules, all cast and crew must be volunteers. 

    Applications open: August 25
    Deadline to apply: October 15

    Successful and non-successful applicants will be notified by email by October 17

    Please note: You may register your team prior to receiving a decision on this grant. If successful, we will reimburse your registration fee if it is included in your budget.

    ELIGIBILITY

    To be eligible for this grant, at least one key creative member of your production team (Director, Writer, Editor, Cinematographer, etc) must identify as Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD)*, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

    Filmmakers must reside within South Australia at the time of the competition. Interstate and international applicants are not permitted.

    *Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) is a broad and inclusive descriptor for communities with diverse language, ethnic background, nationality, dress, traditions, food, societal structures, art and religion characteristics. CALD people are generally defined as those born overseas; in countries other than those classified by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) as “main English speaking countries”.

    CONDITIONS

    All funds requested for camera or other filmmaking equipment hires must be selected through ProAV Solutions (247 Greenhill Road, Dulwich). Please note that ProAV will offer a 50% discount for 48 Hour Film Project participants, so that should be factored into your submitted budget.

    Any documentation provided in this application must be correctly submitted in order to be considered for the grant.

    The Adelaide 48HFP reserves the right not to fund any of the submissions presented in a particular year if it does not meet selection criteria.

    All applications must be submitted online. No applications will be accepted by other mail or means.

    SELECTION PROCESS

    The Adelaide 48 Hour Film Project team will shortlist applicants and select up to four grant recipients based on the selection criteria:

    🎬 Filmmakers must demonstrate they are capable of participating and delivering a film as part of the Adelaide 48HFP by describing their team’s backgrounds and skills. 


    🎬 Filmmakers must demonstrate how the grant will contribute financially towards the team’s participation in the Adelaide 48HFP by providing a detailed production budget outline, including quotes for equipment hire through ProAV Solutions. Follow this link for more information.

    The selection committee’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

    The selection committee is not required to discuss the reasons for their decisions or give feedback.
